I order things online from a supplier I could get as much as I want, I don't have a good butcher around (its the only one so it costs a lot because there is not competition) and I have to get my chicken at .79 a pound because there is no local place that deals in chicken, but it can be done easily if you don't live in the middle of nowhere lol

also after transition, if you hunt great, everything can go to the dogs, if not you can get meat scores for free (because its illegal to sell game meat) during hunting season pretty regularly

Feeding RAW gets tougher as the number of dogs increase. For the people that switch to RAW I would bet the #1 reason for going back to bag food is the time and preparation involved in RAW, not the actual cost between the two. The first step is doing the research on what you will be feeding. The second is storage space, an extra refrigerator/freezer. A time each week to prepare the weeks meals.
Search Barf World. They more than likely have a distributor in your area. There may be even a co-op near you where multiple people buy in bulk and then do the split themselves. Hit up some local hunters, especially during deer season. There is lots of stuff most hunters do not use that works wonders for the dogs. They will all give it to you and some will even deliver as disposal is a hassle. Hit up the local farmers, large gardens for the fresh stuff. Try to time it just before it goes bad and things get cheaper. Farmers markets. Some grocers will give away the day old produce, some will not, but look into that.
Creativity is a must when doing things in bulk and/or at a reduced rate. I have fed both ways for a number of years. The number of dogs has always been the key factor in switching between the two. S

Thanks for the responses. Seems the next step for me is to go bargain hunting and see if I can find a good deal on bulk around my area.

    Thanks again,

Bargain hunting and freezer storage is the key to being successful in feeding RAW. Most people will not understand because 'dogs die from eating RAW stuff", but let family and friends know your plan. Lots of times they do freezer clean outs. Works well for the dogs and cheap for you. I believe in the RAW feeding principles but I understand it can have logistics issues. S

The other side of that coin is the people who walk away from kibble to feed raw. Them types are just as plenty, especially today as people pay much more attention to the ingredients in their dogs food. The dabate goes back and forth and always will. If we were talking about some beginers diet they made for their dog compared to a kibble then i would agree, many get the raw diet wrong but for this to be a legitimate debate on the subject then we are not talking about the sub par raw diet vs the scientifically studied kibble, we are talking about a BALANCED raw diet to Kibble. Of course dogs will do better with any brand of kibble compared to an inbalanced raw diet, thats a given however that is not the discussion.
