There are also drugs that make people more suspectable to suicide. One can be normal, or one could have been depressed, and have a reaction to a drug. It's not always cut and dried, or has an easy explanation.

I agree shit even doctors prescribe drugs that are supposed to help with depression, mood disorders ect and people end up killing themselves while on those medications. They even have FDA warnings that some of these drugs can increase the risk of suicide scary shit. And I have no doubt that synthetic drugs that were not made for our bodies couldn't cause those types of reactions especially when they alter the brain chemicals ...

This thread seems to be an off shoot of the Junior Seau thread, and I don't think it is a coincedance that 3 former pro football players have killed themselfs in the past year.Look at the Hockey enforcers that are having similar problems. The brains chemistry is always changing, and you could be a step away from a life changing brain injury...so if you havn't walked in that person's shoes then I don't think you have the right to judge them, but that is JMO.

Nothing in life is ever cut and dry. I think we've become a drug induced society. A day don't go by that I don't see a commercial for a drug lawsuit, or a promotional for a a drug followed by a crazy ass list of side effect many times worse than the very issue the drug is suppose to help. When I think of suicide I think mostly those who are feeling down, woe is me, my girlfriend dumped me, bullied, lost my job, wife pregnant by the milkman what am I to do type suicides. Like you said, an a few others on here, there is many forms of it and its a subject that I think the majority of society looks down on. If your a person of any faith its considered a mortal sin. Regardless of the reason as to why it was done. Those who commit it on depression drugs have been failed by their physician. Its a touchy subject for anyone who has lost someone close to them this way. Your left with nothing but questions as to why or what you could have done to help. I never been that down in life, even through some of my most tring of times and I've been involved in my fair share of dirt so its hard to be empathetic to those who go out that way.

I see it different because with modern science we now no that mental illness is a disease of the brain...would you say a person with a brain tumor was an ultimate quitter because they died from it?Look at a person who has a stroke, would you say they are quitter because they lost functioning and can't move?I think we live in a society that it's so easy to call another person weak while never having gone through it themselves.I've met people who have been through some severe shit and they are usually the last people to judge another person,in my experiance the one who are quick to comment on how weak another human being is are usually weak themselves.

ppl with mental problems due to depression or a chemical imbalance in the brain should be given the same compassion as someone with a disease like cancer

ppl who are terminally ill and want to die with dignity should be allowed to do so, if that is their choice

one thing I cannot understand is teenage suicide, when a 12, 13 or 14 year old takes their own life it stuns the whole community

my own philosphy is, "I came into the world in nappies, I'm not gonna leave this world in nappies", if and when I get old and start to go down hill, I will have a fishing accident, I will not be a burden to others and I will not go out slowly , rotting in a bed wereing a nappy without any dignity

Dying from a stroke or cancer is not quitting, the disease just ran its course. Comparing those two diseases to suicide is a very far reach my man. Like comparing apples to oranges. And I'm not judging anyone, in the end ALL will be judged so its not my place to judge them. My opinion is my opinion and it will not change no matter how many people want to make excuses for people who kill them selves. Lol, RRL are you pro suicide or what.? THEIR IS NEVER AN ACCEPTABLE REASON TO TAKE YOUR OWN LIFE PERIOD! And if because I feel this way makes me the weak minded one, then so be it but you know what, I'm still dealing with shit day in and day out. Not jumping the wall of life just because its an easier road. Doesn't sound very weak minded to me one who kills themselves has he weak mind IMO.

AGK How do you know suicide is the easy road?Ever tried or do u not have the heart to get it done.Dont answer im just being sarcastic with that last one but seriously theres to sides to every coin.Ive never tried to kill myself and doubt i ever will but i wont judge those whose shoes i havent walked in.And maybe suicide is the disease taking its course.Maybe those who claim to believe in god and the afterlife r cowards every time they defy his will and seek medical treatment instead of going to meet they maker in this glorious afterlife.R you to cowardly to find out what really awaits you?Afraid it will be nothing? We could judge each other all day and call each other cowards all day about shit we dont know.Maybe What You Think Your Mentally Tough For Going Through Someone Else Says Your A Pussy For Even Complaining/Losing Sleep About That Bullshit.Im pretty damn game but i dont think i would have the heart to kill myself even if i had to so i gotta respect that they made the ultimate decision and stuck to they guns (no pun intended).

Its a sad thing. I lost a dear friend and a girlfriend to it.I am with Agk, in a way it does seem to me to be to curr way. But Allso I kinda understand. I have One of the most stressfull lifes of anyone I know I have SOOO maney things going on and so much on my plateI could see how a lesser man would say screw it and stop on the spot. When some one takes his or hers it is one of the MOST selfish acts you can do. People left behind ask themselfs if it were there fault. Offspring are left with out anyone. It is not the way it is to be. When I think I have it bad I remember growing up With no Elect or ac in the home or going on one school meal a day and remind my self of all the loards blessings on me and push that thought aside and keep scratching.

I don't respect anyone who kills themselves. Nor will I believe they were game for following thru with it. Dealing with your problems constructively and conquering circumstances in life are the game ones in my eyes, suicides just pack it in. I'm sure its not easy to take your own life but it's harder to continue on in tring times. I'm far to vain to ever take my own life and I am a believer that God will one day judge me on all my wrong doing I prefer to live life, as hard as it can be at times. I'm not a Bible thumper by any means but I do believe and from what I was taught, its wrong. Having had people close to me do it only cemented my beliefs as to just how wrong of a decision it really is.

AGK, it's not just drugs for depression that cause suicidal thoughts.

Take topamax for example. It's being more regularly prescribed for people who suffer from migraines, and it's also considered a weight loss drug. You start with a low dose work your way up, then back down again. It really messes up your thought process. Most people I know who are on it call it Dopamax. It makes you forget the littlest things, and cause depression. 1 in 500 have suicidal thoughts.

If you can handle what it does to you mentally and physically, it works great. I have migraines that literally destroy days and nights. This drug has cut my headaches down to about 5-10 a month. Ideally the goal is none. That would be wonderful.

Agree. Compassion is due for the people that go through this. The people that talk "it is the cur" way out have no fucking clue. They talk like they are hard, it aint a fucking game like the games we play with these dogs. You are ignorant for even comparing it to a fucking dog in the first place. A dog mind is so much more simple, but I guess you need to make it understandable some how. all I understand that some people have never known, or were never close enough to a person to understand the mental pain on torture one goes through. And to take ones life and call it the easy way out man, they have more guts than most of us, more guts to have gritted it out that long more guts to end it. Who isnt't fucking scared to die, your lying to yourself if you say your not. I lost respect for some of you all with the shit you all said, know the dogs well you might but you know nothing about human beings. Maybe that is why the dogs are the things you have the best relationship with because u are unable to have a complex relationship with a human being and be able to understand someone elses thoughts and feelings and put those before your own. Who is selfish?

I see the topamax Lawsuit commercial all the time, like twice a day. Migraines are no fun, I get 2 a week due to putting a rock thru my right eye as a child. I Don't take anything for it because id rather have the head aches than thoughts of suicide or anal leakage lol or any other sides effects of the drugs used to treat them. If they get real bad I will pop Vicodin like there skittles.

That's how I see a mental disease that has run it's course just like cancer, now I don't believe all cases of suicide are due to a mental illness, but the ones that are I would say it was the final stage of the disease.I know I can't change your mind, and I'm not trying to,just giving some food for thought.I am pro-suicide AGK,have you ever seen the documentay about Dr.Kovorkian? That guy helped alot of people who were in severe pain, and did not even have the physical strength to kill themselves. We live in a free country, and if you want to check out early, peacefully I think it's your right.Yes,some people who kill themselfs have a damaged mind.

I'm more inclined to agree with AGK. My personal belief is that the mind is more powerful than these diseases. If people will seek to strengthen their minds, most medications can become unnecessary. It is not easy, but is has been done. One prominent example is the story of the guy in A Beautiful Mind. We choose who we want to be. We make our own destinies.

AGK! Vicodin is an opioid, combined with a high dose of acetaminophen! It has its own Pandora's box, including addiction!
