Fair enough.

I just can't see the logic in no gun control? Do you guys have any reasonable suggestions? It does seem there is a problem?

as most on here know, i am VERY pro-gun, and carry a pistol daily(.357 on my hip as i type), but there doesnt seem to be an easy answer to this. its not a problem with guns that will be solved by whipping up a bunch of new laws, its a problem with society. when i was a kid gun safety was POUNDED in my head, and i was taught to respect a firearm.

nowadays most kids havent ever shot a gun, dont go in the field to hunt, and because of that they arent gonna respect a firearm for what it is...a tool capable of being used as a weapon. they see em as a toy capable of making them a badass. who do you blame... video games? movies? a lack of proper parenting? that i dont know, but it isnt gonna go away until we start educating our kids, and taking all the mystery away from the gun hidden away in the closet.

Fix the education system and economy and we could start to see significant results in two to three generations. If todays youth saw education as a good thing and had jobs to go to after school they wouldn't rely on on violence as a future. It's not an overnight process it would take time but if your asking what could be done start with basics. Education and jobs to go to after school........make sense???????

Exactly, most kids I went to school with was brought up around guns and were taught gun safety. Most hunted at an early age,it's common to see kids here in the paper showing off the deer or turkey at a pretty young age. When i went to school deer season was an excused absence.Teachers just figured most boys were missing the first couple days of deer season. My dad started letting me shoot coons out of the tree at 7 with a single shot .22.We were taught that a gun was a tool and to respect it.It can kill you,but so can several other tools.Use it properly and there's no problem.Kids didn't used to shoot up schools, actually when i was in 8th grade a friend of mine brought a shotgun to school because he was going hunting after school,he just brought it to the office unloaded and left it there until after school. It probably was illegal,I don't know, but that's what happened and our principle was ok with it.So no harm came from it. Rather than gun control, the government should lighten up on people parenting their kids, the kids are getting more spoiled, year after year, they're worse than before.Like I said,we all had guns in my community and we turned out fine. It's obviously not the guns it's the people. If you notice most of these shooters shoot up schools, movie theaters and the like, where they're pretty sure no one is armed. When was the last shooting range, police station or something like that a crazy shooter decided to shoot up.It's easy to shoot at people who aren't shooting back.Maybe instead of less guns we just need a culling on some of these idiots that go off the deep end.

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

33 million unarmed civilians dead after total gun bans, read that shit outloud if it doesn't sink in.

Obviously not a total gun ban if they were exterminated by shooting. Ever heard of the gas chambers, lethal injection etc?. I'm also guessing it wasn't some gangsta, maniac etc that did the shooting. More likely the regime in control at the time. Re-read your history and see if makes sense in the context of this topic. Is it likely that the US Military under direction from your current government is going to shoot (murder) 20 million citizens for not agreeing with their policy?

They do come from most walks of life, I agree, and it's generally the stupid ones that get caught. I'm only making suggestions. They may be off the mark depending on your personal position. This is a public, global forum and i'm not the OP. I am curious, however, to hear some solutions to what seems to be a spreading problem in US society.

I don't really want to hear assumptions about my person or insults. Clearly, like I know nothing about any of you, you all no nothing about me.

In our country housing criminals is a good buisness to be in.Why would the elite want it any other way?I would say that Singapore deals with crime very well, but that would not work in the U.S..

The point is that GUN CONTROL LAWS forced CIVILIANS to RELINQUISH their FIREARMS therefore leaving them UNABLE TO DEFEND THEMSELVES Nova09, now shut your cocksucker and go hug a tree bitch.

Yeah, gun control is always with the regular civilian in mind, they want us unarmed, but they're keeping their guns. The politicians who fight so hard against our right to arm and protect ourselves and think guns are evil, well their body guards are still keeping theirs. The first thing a person would do if they wanted complete power and be a dictator would be to disarm the citizens so they couldn't resist their regime. They're never will be a gun ban,the ones in power will keep theirs whether we do or not.

La. Judge Issues TRO in Wake of Katrina Gun Confiscations
By RAE THEODORE, Andrews Publications Correspondent

A federal judge in Louisiana has issued an indefinite temporary restraining order barring all government officials in New Orleans and nearby areas from confiscating firearms from law-abiding citizens in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Judge Jay Zainey of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana also ordered the return of all confiscated firearms upon "presentation of identification and execution of a receipt."

The defendants have denied allegations that a city policy authorized illegal seizures of lawfully possessed firearms.

The complaint was filed Sept. 23 by the National Rifle Association, the Second Amendment Foundation Inc. and Louisiana resident Buell Teel. The defendants include New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain Jr. and recently resigned New Orleans Police Superintendent P. Edwin Compass III.

The plaintiffs maintain that, during and after Hurricane Katrina, officials in New Orleans and surrounding jurisdictions "have pursued a policy of seizing lawfully possessed firearms from law-abiding residents." They claim that police "went from house to house and confiscated numerous firearms from citizens at gunpoint."

In addition, the plaintiffs say that while government officials decreed that "ordinary citizens" could not possess firearms, businesses and wealthy individuals were permitted to hire armed security guards for protection.

The plaintiffs assert that the defendants violated their right to keep and bear arms and their rights to due process, to equal protection, and to be free from unreasonable search and seizure.

"The court's ruling is instant relief for the victims who now have an effective means of defending themselves from the robbers and rapists that seek to further exploit the remnants of their shattered lives," NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said in a statement.

Second Amendment Foundation founder Alan M. Gottlieb said in a statement Judge Zainey's order has "put an end to what has amounted to a warrantless gun grab by authorities in New Orleans and surrounding jurisdictions."

The NRA said it might seek to change emergency statutes in all 50 states to prevent the occurrence of similar situations.

The US is a republic that agreed to unify under a single banner with certain conditions........... namely they would retain the rights to bear arms as afforded to themselves under the militias of the individual states. Hence the United States of America was formed.

This is an arm race where each civilian is included. The Global peace was assured during the cold war and today by states having enough WMD to deter attacks from others. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Canadians and Europeans assume that their governments act in their best interests and sleep safer at night under this assumption. Americans are under no such illusion.
