Last year, the US exported more oil than imported. By those numbers, the US could be already be oil independent if it wasn’t selling oil to the rest of the world. If the rest of the world is willing to pay $200 a barrel and we’re only willing to pay $80 here in the states… it won’t matter how much oil we produce here because only a fool would sell domestically for less and I’ve got a feeling oil barons aren’t fools, at least when it comes to oil and money lol.

Also, last year 8% of US oil imports were from Russia. So yes that policy will likely affect our prices here. And if the rest of the world (sans Russia and it’s Allies) joins the strike, it will likely impact the price even further. So yes, I will concede that Presidents/Leaders can affect the price of things. And in this case, Putin made his choice to affect the lives of innocent people AND oil prices around the world.

I hope we can all agree that what Russia is doing is wrong and that taking the
wind out of Russias sails through financial warfare is a much smaller sacrifice than providing aid with the lives of American soldiers.
