I'm sure most those winners were probably outcrosses to lesser lines too right? Lol
    You're still proving my point

its half and half probably ... half of em outs and half not... what do you mean your point, we already said it was a great out for any line and strong itself.. your gonna repeat us and call it your idea, because you used it in the form of a loaded question..?.. on a false pretense.. Whats your point besides you believe Colby is washed up? Not good for anything other than outs? not a very good point if there was one; I'll give you room for your opinion thats about all I see. Im here on the colby line thread because both purity of family and working quality is something I value more in a bulldog than before. Everyone has this or that strain with a good amount of winners and they are good dogs, just not my cup of tea any more. If it can be done, it has been done... what are you on the colby thread for? There aren't a vast amount of dogmen with colby because most are fast fad breeders looking for the next best bet. If you don't honor the purity of the Colby family and recognize it for what it is to all the bulldog strains then you just don't see it and have no honor for it, then keep on keepin on your doin fine without Colby blood.

No I'm not repeating your idea bc I don't see any of the "pure" dogs from "true" apbt working lines that are the quality of the lesser lines. I don't believe they are strong by themselves without a cross. Conformation chs don't count by the way, I said WORKING dogs. Like I said its retarded to say the colby lines are superior bc the truth is those dogs can't hold a candle in to todays workings lines unless its infused with them. The colby dogs need the "lesser" line, NOT the other way around. So which line is really inferior??? So you guys keep stacking peds if that's what makes you happy but don't act like your paper bred dogs are more than they are. The point of working dogs in NOT to conserve but to improve your line every generation. What's the point of having a clean family of dogs if it can't measure up to the competition???

Well when you grow out your twenties or whatever and no longer know everything and realize how much you thought you knew but you didn't... You can chuckle at yourself rather than your misplaced arrogance toward anything that has been said or proven. You don't stand by the colby line, so theres nothing left for you to say. Figured that was your stance a while back. Have fun with that, and if your doing good without Colby, Heinzl, and purity of strain as well as family as well as working quality, then rock it on out, you don't need it. I don't show dogs to much more than a bear or mtn lion unless its a pack of coyotes; I show my dogs to them ;) I look forward to owning and raising colby dogs. You can look forward to what ever it is you look forward to. Save your rhetoric it has no grounding.. Its over your head and under your feet..

    have a good day ..

Yeah I will agree with you for once now. Just wanted to point out the whole purity and saying your lines are superior is retarded when the performance of the dogs shows otherwhise. but people breed these dogs for all kinds of things in 2k12 so I guess as long as you like em right? Still its kindve idiotic to call subpar performing dogs superior bc of their pedigree especially win the pedigree contains a bunch more subpar dogs lol jus saying...

Are you looking for someone to condone your blind opinion here? What you have derived from this is futile and no where near what the conversation was. I've had the best Tant blood and the earliest and you know I thought I knew as much as you think you know now back then. Good thing I called until I got ahold of Davis and then Tant and previously Greewoods of ADBA and they and I had real good communication factor because of a lil' thing called dialogue. I learned a good deal, and understood it better 10yrs later ;) I doubt you understand the extensive meaning and most simple meaning of that word "dialogue". Your pretty wise young guy, once you have understanding you will attain knowledge; we all have aha moments and no one knows it all for sure before they are even 30. I have some of the last stuff off of B.Halls/lonzo and it is real good, I owned Hammonds Canook for a short time and he was a real good dog carrying the last of GH's HeinzlBruno stuff, as well as enjoy correspondence with GH. Retarded, idiotic, type rhetoric is ignorant and shows maybe you worry to much about what other people are doing. You still don't understand purity as if they just bred slop and didn't test their own stock up to 1976 and probably after that under wraps or just over the border by way of another name ;) Heinzl despised the AST and dogmen you look up to or the ones they look up to called Heinzl the greatest breeder of all time, just a bit better than J.P. .. Just sayin...

I understand the purity of a family of dogs but I think Dreams point is what good is it if the dogs are sub par. Yes Colby &Heinzl were two of the greatest breeders ever but both are long as are the great dogs they once owned. Yes within a pedigree u will find all those greats dogs but if the immediate stock up front is ' nt up to standard then all you have is a pretty ped and % r most likely going to be low. Yes a good Colby dog is a great thing to have just cause a pedigree has one name appearing throughout the pedigree doesn't mean to much if the dogs are sub par. There are many families of dogs who have with stood the test of time again not saying your dogs or Colbly dogs are sub par but its been awhile for them in the performance aspect of the breed. Obviously you are very happy with your hounds and that is great breed for your needs, but to chase pedigrees and breed for long dead dogs is going to very time consuming and not the way I would go again I have no idea how you breed your or what for just throwing in my two cents. Yis Ole Man.

Yet Tudors/Mayfields Nigger was a cur (sub par) and Tudors favorite dog; producing dogs like alligator and others, and entire lines such as mayfield of good dogs. Im not picking the dog out alone on pedigree Im a survival of the fittest type guy. I need a dog to run in with me and run out covering roughly 24miles of mtns all the while handle any predators legal to hunt at that time of year and handle any raging moose :) Coyotes are legal year round and they'll sure check your dogs oil get more than 5. Nothing can really keep up with a well bred bulldog in the mtns and woods either. There are a lot of good dogs out there; I want both.. a great dog as well as pedigree and that paper is just to show you what you got genetically and as was stated you get all outcrossed mostly scatterbred and loosen all kinds of traits under the surface with all kinds of variables that can pop up here or there. I wouldn't pick a sub par dog :) it'd get killed and or me too..

What traits r you preserving besides the name Colby in the pedigree? Not being a smart ass making convo about dogs. Yis Ole Man

None yet.. I will be pulling them out :) of two dogs I chosen to start with out of the colby stock. .. I like old world bulldogs simple as that and I can pull it out of any strain, I done it from studying dogs and peds online and then making a drastic scatter with the last litter I had drop after mastering genetic manipulation and purification. Theres stuff I may be short on however not much when it comes to breeding and dna coding and memory. Im a lil short in the coding but usually because I over look something small, which is the same thing most people do with pedigree and triats ;) I decided to go with colby because heinzl and lightener did and they didn't like to use anyone. Heinzl and Lightener both have dogs that predate or were here and pedigreed around the same time, and once limited Colby was the source of old blood in consistency. Its in the make up of Fly of Panama, Redboy, Armitage, Clark, Loposay, Nebbeltts etc.. which was my original point, it was good enough for them men to get the best colby and breed it and use it.

I havent seen any modern dogman produce anything that wasn't produced years ago . If it can be done, it has been done.. All we can do is practice perfection and yet never believing we have attained perfection....

Ok of those great men I m pretty sure you don't have the cailber of animal they had nor do I. Just in a nut shell your trying to recreate dogs of old based on your understanding of peds online and genetic coding? Now you have two that are the perfect representation of the Colby dogs of old. Not to get into to much details but how and why are these two the best besides their pedigrees? Yis Ole Man

NO.. I was able to look at peds online and dogs from afar and complete this in a matter of a year or so in correspondence... after 10yrs of mastering it at hand with my tants sired Hicks Yoda/Wheelers Boy stuff .. I corresponded and talked with GH mostly who gave me props on the ability to spot and pull out dormant traits.. I got the dogs and done the cross and out came old world bulldogs. The test was to see if I could do it with an outcross or a scatter by not seeing the dogs in person and trusting the pedigree to be true to the dog. For most they don't breed true, however I know this stuff pretty good and I can pull from a good amount of dogs what others are failing to see. I breed old world bulldogs and if I can pull it from two dogs I've never seen I as well as stock I've had my hads on for 10yrs then I figure Im ready to get serious and get one of the oldest purest strain of working bulldog there is.

That's pretty much what you said and you threw out some names of good breeders to try to validate your point. The difference between you and those breeders is their dogs were off good dogs. Its also funny when people name the exceptions to the rule to validate their breeding up subpar dogs. I never claimed to know it all but this concept is pretty basic. All dogs have good dogs way back in their pedigree. What's separates them in the genetics their close decendents pass on. Okay I'm done...

How do you differentiate the "old world bulldogs" in the litter from the "new world bulldogs" in the litter? I'm thinking more about outcome than process here.

  20. Foundation

no thats not what I said.. if that is how you understand things no wonder you have a problem with dialogue. I said that I know what Im doin well enough that I can look at two dogs i've never seen before and if honest to their pedigree which is their DNA map of contents I can breed and get what I want or what anyone wants and cant find themselves or have bred themselves in a corner... this is what I'm saying. Am I breeding from paper NO.. Did I ? .. kinda I also assessed the dogs and the dogs in the pedigree.. The pedigree if true is the DNA map or tapestry.. Do you breed for paper? NO.. if your understanding is limited to; then it is just that, and nothing can be said or done until life presents to you your own aha moment.

I didn't name exceptions to the rule, its a learning process needed to see first hand. Most people don't know why to outcross or what they're looking for even if they think they do. I made an intentional outcross to show the old world bulldogs could be pulled from those strains... I mastered it at hand with linebreeding and inbreeding. If a dog is honest to its pedigree its pedigree can tell you how it should be bred providing that its a working quality dog. Its the DNA map.. I dont worry about if a dog works or not because thats a given, if a dont cant work it can't work.. After seeing that I could do this with tant/bozo/tonka blood, i studied long and hard genetics and the punit square with variables.. Then I put in the phone and online correspondence to build an old world bulldog in one breeding with dogs I've never seen. I did.

So now I want the oldest most pure stuff by way of a bulldog I can find to breed and keep old world style working bulldogs.. I couldnt find pure clouse so I chose Colby.. But I had to go with my heart otherwise I wouldnt like what I was feeding regardless if it was whelped in the [].
