Nah, no debate, i just educate.. You look pretty stupid or you dont know better, when you say your dog is game because he likes to work out or will fight any other dog. Thats just called dog aggression.. Gameness has and always will be that one thing that so many people never will see..

Please correct me if I am wrong,

My interpretation of gameness is a dog or person that wil fight a long losing battle and still be willing to go back in no matter what.

I would just like to point out I do not condone dog fighting of any kind.

Yes you are correct Dogger. It never ceases to amaze me how many people figure they have a game one, because the dog growls at a dog or he always pulls on his leash to get another.

if show staffords were taller, thinner and had smaller heads, i would still have a problem with them soley because of what they are used for. as was said "experience both, compare" and you will see that the biggest difference between the types is less what they look like and more about what they are.

    Hi Jake,
I am begining to understand what you are all on about, I would love to see some of these dogs at close hand but don't know anyone who owns any around here, (south yorkshire). Can you put some pics of yours up for me to have a look at?
    Cheers

No KC Stafford breeder that shows dogs kept or bred for gameness this includes the famous Rapparee kennels , i spoke over thirty years ago to most if not all of the old boys whod owned staffords from the forties through to the late seventies and eighties aand NONE tested there dogs or bred for gameness . Most of them hadnt a clue about gameness or how to test a dog , there understanding of feeding was NIL and they bred from anything regardless of how game it was or was not , in all my years i met only two KC breeders that knew a little about gamedogs and neither had ever conditioned or matched a dog . I do believe there were Irish breeders that had a better ubderstanding but certainly not in England .

Lets get something straight , no KC breeder ever bred for gameness , i spoke to most of the old stafford breeders that owned dogs from as far back as the forties through to the late eighties and never met one that had a clue what a gamedog was let alone how to breed for them . Not one breeder tested there stock and culled the dogs that quit , most of those i spoke with hadnt a clue how to condition a dog and those that did allow there dogs a bit of a roll would breed from the dog if it quit , with the understanding they would breed the cur blood out , something many of todays breeders also believe . I dont know of a single stafford that won at a KC Stafford sow that was ever matched or proven game , ive heard the twaddle about breeders that have secret lines going way back but thats bullshit , ive seen two breeders that matched KC dogs the dogs quit cold and they still bred from the dogs but never matched a dog again . In over thirty years of keeping staffords i met TWO KC stafford breeders that had a little understanding of gameness but they DID NOT breed for gameness or test there dogs . Many years ago i spoke with men who knew Joe Mallen and Bill Boylan and most of the old timers and they told me that though they worked dogs they DID NOT breed for gameness and would breed from untested stock , the truth is the only proven tested breed thats been bred for gameness is the American Gamedog (Pitbull) and even this breed has been bastardised and prostituted for profit by dealers who bred from untested stock or dogs that had quit , some even added the blood of other non game breeds , so lets not confuse ourselves about how game or gamebred KC staffords are or have ever been

The sad truth is that no KC stafford breeder tested there dogs for gameness , for over thirty years i spoke with breeders that showed staffords at KC shows and this includes the famous Rapparee kennels and not one person i spoke with bred or tested there dogs , not one had any understanding of breeding or gameness or conditioning . I know of only two KC breeders that showed dogs that matched a dog both dogs quit cold and were still used for stud with the breeders telling me they would breed the cur blood out , something todays breeders think they can do . Back in the seventies i spoke with old timers that knew Mallen and Boylan and the others well and they told me they worked dogs but DID NOT game test them and bred to dogs that were untested , i knew of two breeders back many years ago that had a love of gamedogs but they DID NOT test there dogs .The only breed that has been bred for gameness is the American Gamedog (Pitbull) and even this breed as been bastardised and prostituted by dealers who bred from dogs that had quit and some even added non game blood from other breeds , so really the sad truth is that KC staffys have Never been bred for gameness since before they were registared
