That last pic is perfect and explains my questions more than words could... but now that u mentioned it a few cable runs would save space and grass.... mat just do that instead of chains. Do you have the link to keystones?

Let me look around. I'm sure it's here somewhere in one of the chain set up threads. I'll post it when I find it.

How long would you make the above head wire and how long would you make the drop down line? What materials would you use? Sorry for all the questions I just highly value everyone's opinions.

Can't help with any of that. I know treez used to have one or 2 of those cable runs maybe he could help you. Or just PM Keystone. I'm sure he would tell you.

I think all of that would be personal preference really. Some people wouldn't be able to run a 100ft cable run because of space limitations so just go with how much space you have to work with.

And with the chain that connects to the cable, again, that's be pretty much all personal preference. You want it long enough so the dog can get in his house and to have room to move around but you don't need a really long chain since the cable will give them most of their room to move around. I have had the cable at different heights on the tree also. I like it a little higher so I can walk under it but not too high.

I have 2 cable runs and I just use them periodically to let dogs stretch out off of the chain. Both of the chains that come off of the cables are about 9/10ft. The cables themselves are 30ft and 90 ft. They do not live on the cables. They could but I keep them on their chain spots most of the time.

In the future I will probably concrete some posts in the ground like Keystone and Rod K did but at this point I just have the cables going from tree to tree.

Trees and AGK, VERRY nice!!! I 'm VERY picky on my setups to! When I still have one into 8/12 mo. that means I think they are candidates for what I'm looking for. Since they are potential athletes and they will be there at least another year, I want to give them every shot!! Years ago when my yard was expanding all the ones that were giving me advise told me they preferred there cables on the ground, especially with hyper dogs. Mine come down hill on A slight slop under trees in the summer, then when it starts getting cold we move the pens to all day sun. I'm lucky I have ALOT of room in an area where people don't snoop around, plus two healers that are very anal about patrolling the boundaries. So if some do's venture up this long dirt road there most likely lost, these two want even let them out of there car! Our land is heavily posted "No Trespassing! Survivors Will be Violated" it puts in there mind A scene from Deliverance! LOL Great to see younger DOGMEN with such dedication!!!

TROT - Thank you. I tried the ground level cable for one day. I have a lot of small stumps, sticks, etc that got caught up in the ground level cable. If I didn't have those obstructions I may go for the ground level. I know some have done it and it worked good.

Your place sounds similar to ours. Long, dirt road that has VERY little, if any, traffic back here. Signs are heavily posted also. I'm just missing the two healers lol. I had a guard dog when we first moved in here but she wasn't that great of a guard dog so she's gone and I haven't looked for any others yet. Some day soon though.

in my buddy dirtys heyday when he was collecting all the soldiers dogs that went off to war,,,
as a pay it foward to the vets and cull free dogs,,, he must have had a hundred and you better believe he had special place in his yard for the man eaters,,,
the outer perimeters and he trained those dogs to take bodies,,, fuck names...

he had aalmost twenty stolen before that and he recovered them in maple hill nc,,,
these thiefs were said to house some of the best dogs on the eastcoast and they were all stolen!!!

after that and with some patience and training,,, dirty would have man biter ready for a sneak attack and
he liked dark quit dogs for his ninja work,,, some were winners most were rough curs...

one of the only times i was ever scared of a bulldog was when I first met max and he looked at me as desert,,,
the 2x winner that was a carver bred dog with no ped and some ones throw away,,,dirty hit it off with the dog and after he retired max to the yard he made sure that max was a one person type of dog
as I presume he was fond of him and dint want him stolen,,, he didnt care about no damn peds at all!!!

well as max aged he came full circle and wouldnt harm a soul including a host of young dogs,,, pups,,,
bitches that ran in his fenced back yard together like the dog whispers spot,,, lol...

there is a place for a man eater,,, up a dog thieves ass!!!

The thing I like about the Blue Healers is there yappy little shits when anything strange comes around, easy to trainj and smart enough to stay out of reach of A bulldog!! Plus they will scare the hell out of people especially when they dive at your feet! LOL

Hello, I am an urban dog, here I will make a brief description of my facilities.
5 exterior brick kennels, half roof half roofless, with sewer drain from the street, important for poops as they all go down the drain.
    good things about urban dogman:
    1-less well-groomed dogs.
2-controlled environment longer because you live there and you are always controlling the issue.
3-in my case facilities for cleaning with water.
    bad things urban dogman:
1-there is no school for dogs, so you depend on a third party.
2-few dogs there is no variety for schooling.
3-you can not afford to have dogs because yes, you have to be very selective but the little site ends with curses.
4-treadmill is not possible due to the noise it causes in the neighbors, I have an E-mill in my case.
5-alert with neighbors in every way injured dogs etc etc, dogs that scream.

In my case I do not pretend to have a large yard either, it is a number of dogs with which I feel comfortable and I can do other things in my spare time apart from being with the dogs.

I am writing with a translator so the translation may not be good.

    regards

Raising dogs in the city is rough sledding. I raised 9 while living on a busy street. I sweat bullets everyday wondering if that particular day would be the one where I got the knock at the door. It was especially stressful during working hours when the kids were at school and the wife and I were at work. Anyhow I was able to raise them to 2 1/2 Before moving south. We’re on 7 acres now with a .25 mile long driveway. The stress levels are greatly diminished and the transformation in the dogs has been notable.

I've done it for coming up on 23 years.

Inner city, born n raised, in the dirt circle is where I spend most of my days, chillin out, maxing, relaxin all cool and picking up some dog shit, opps I meant stool.
Until a couple of neighbors become up to no good, started making trouble for me in the neighborhood, dogs got in one little fight and they all got scared, so I said yo forget that shit dawg, he's selling H right over there..

Lol My rendition of the fresh prince of bel-aire gets APBTs. :))

In all serious it is very stressful, that is a very accurate description of urban dogging. Stressed when your not home, time is consumed when you are home, worried all day about what's happening at home when your away, worried that shitty neigbors will report you ir some other dumb shit, list goes on. Throw in tethering laws and other restrictions and it's like a damn noose tightening around your neck 24/7/365 x however many you keep.

I keep it quite here with very, very little traffic. I can count how many people been to my yard on one hand. Plus we have a pretty solid castle law here and if someone's on my property trespassing as its posted, to steal, they may get shot and I'll most likely walk Lol.

I have the most dogs on my block yet the cleanest, most quite yard. Everyone around me has dogs that yap 24-7 and their yards look like shit. I keep the peace and I'm pleasant to my neighbors though. They all have commented at one time or another on how much time and effort I spend in my backyard with the dogs since they can all see right into my yard from their 2nd floor windows. Good to have that kind of image these days. AC will almost always talk to your neighbors before they come knocking on your door. ;) they usually show up due to a neighbor compliant. I've become compulsive with it as the years have gone by. It would be so much easier on my own land and better all around for the dogs but It's just not in the cards any time soon. Mostly because I'm tired of being in dept and currently don't have a morgage. Lol.
