The way it is over seas

Over seas they terriers are generally bigger then the states for earth work and they cross to many terrier types staff, Jagdterriers and so on. Many men spend 10yrs or more breeding Patterdale types down to work mid west game.

Robert Booth breeding Jagdterriers and patterdale crosses.

Zero experience with these dogs other than my buddy had a Patterdale bred down out of Nuttall and I think Mason bloodlines. He got it down in Georgia.

I kept it for a week once while they were away on vacation.

I let it out in a penned area and it was running around just like any other dog. He froze, his ears perked and he went across the yard like a bullet. He barrell rolled a possum and came up in a death grip and within seconds the possum was no more.

The hardest part was getting it away from him. My sticks were hard to work in his mouth.

Since I don't have any real experience I can't debate their gameness but I can attest that one had finish.

Not sure what above ground work has to do with earth work as they are not the same where your dog is in the ground for hour's. The difference between most terriers over seas are they are mostly to big for earth work in the state's because over seas its natural for them to consistently breed to different types of terriers. To many people doing above ground work now days in general. Hard dogs will excel in above ground work or what the state and local government calls animal fighting. 10 - 14lbs (not Kg) narrow chested is what is needed to hunt traditional terrier work state side. Most people state side now think the fell patterdale terrier is a breed but it has always been a type bred with many different types of terriers. Only in the USA have people tried to breed it into a consistent size do to trying to do traditional earth work.

Me neither. That is why I led off with 'zero experience with these dogs'.

    LOL

Look at your state and local laws for what is deemed animal fighting (not dog fighting) also the hunting laws as a lot of states updated the lingo. Make sure to have proper hunting license for Varmints. Hunt on private property

general rule of thumb was 3/4 to 1/4 of whatever

Yep. I went to several of the Hog Dog rodeos in SC. One week it was legal and the next week it was not and the next week it was a lot of gray area. It got to the point it was more of a hassle trying to find out and not knowing. Everyone I called in that community was a 'bar-stool attorney'.

Yes it is true. Tons of laws vary by city, county or municipality.

We coon hunt here as well but it's 100% illegal to hunt them in a set.

What the hell is a hog dog rodeo?

It was a competition. You had an AB class and a Pit class and a open class meaning any kind of dog breed you prefer to use in the open class to catch and hold the Hog.

Each dog was timed from the Quickest to the slowest on catching the Hog.

I guess in that case they did. LOL

It was actually a running joke for a stretch as we laughed about whether the upcoming weekend would be a good time or a felony conviction. That is not exactly a laughing matter, but it seemed to swing back and forth that fast over those events for several months.

Laws and animals can be strange all over. I listened to a lady give a seminar at a Fila Brasileiro working weekend once. She was a vet with a small practice out of her house. A dog gets hit by a car and dropped off with the promise to return/pay. He never does. She ends up with a new 'office dog'. Then some guy breaks in one afternoon and this shit eating dog lit him up. He sued her and won.

In Georgia (and most states as well) as a dog owner if your dog bites someone you are responsible no matter. This vet lost her homeowner's insurance, which forced her to move, which forced her to close the practice which cost her $$$$ all because some shithead broke into her house.

When I got back home to NC I checked it out here and our laws are very similar. It is not a criminal issue but when they bight you are liable. Pretty much period.

But with that said, when I had Filas, I went with the older adage of it is better to be judged by 12 than carried by six.

And if one of these shit eaters I have inside now defends my home and my family like that dog did, we may be living in a box afterwards, but I would make sure he ate before I did. LOL

So, yes, animal laws are different everywhere and a lot of them do not make much sense at all.

One of the things so many people do is make videos of their dogs running a mill. Often there is another animal in front of them which is baiting.

Let's just say baiting a hook and baiting an animal are two entirely different things.

One you do the catching and the other you are the one being caught.

slim Just curious how long ago was this veterinarian sued over somebody breaking into her house and her dog attacking the intruder. Because that's not what happened at my sister-in-law's house. Somebody jump the fence and was trying to steal a chainsaw and a push mower out of the shed when her German Shepherd grabbed his ass if it was not for the yelling and screaming my sister-in-law would have slept through the night the Sheriff Department arrested him and charged him with theft of property and he tried to sue her too but no avaiil this happened in the last 3 years.
