Just curious if anyone here feeds a piece of toast when working a dog.

Wouldn't you have to check the dogs blood sugar to see if it's working

I was told when a dog gets that thick white saliva they are burning belly fat and that a piece of toast will help with that?

Sounds like the dog is probably just wet. (Hydrated)
    About all I got.

Never heard of toast being given before. Not sure what that would accomplish.

As far as I know, if a dog gets thick white or frothy saliva it simply means he's or she working hard. If he's burning fat he'd be burning it all over, not just in his belly. You may notice a faster change in his condition if you work him until he's frothing as he's simply using up more energy and fuel, and I'm sure the hard exercise will tone him and give him a more visible tuck around the waist too. You can target muscles when working but I don't think you can target fat.
I'm not sure what a piece of toast would do though I've heard it too. Dogs primarily use fat as an energy source and cannot metabolize carbohydrates as well so I don't really see the point. I could be wrong though and would stand corrected, LOL

True. When a dog is wet dry food can absorb water and move it thru the tract.

Once upon a long time ago it was an adjustment in the final hours for weight. If the skin pull showed the dog is wet and over, the bread is an attempt to absorb some water, he empty gut triggers the urge to dump or piss, usually piss. Weight drops and water content goes down.

I am thinking it is not all that effective but there is some theory there. Just not all that practical.
