  1. Well since Texas is making chains illegal by Jan 18 is there something besides a chain we can use ? I was thinking maybe a cable but knowing these mutts they'll probably make a loop and choke them self's . I do have kennels for them since we moved back to town and only have 5 dog's.

You can use cable. Get ahold of @treezpitz

Check your local statutes. Some include cable and cable runs as tethering. What is worse the definition of tethering can change from locale to locale and sometimes it depends on who is reading it and what they think they know.

We have it in several counties in NC and it seems each one is a bit different from the other. Our county pushed it a few years back but luckily there are a few avid hunters on the board and another couple board members have family that are avid hunters. Many of the coon dog people around here tie out the hounds vs. pens.

Basically they bought us some time as more and more places are swinging in that direction.

Check your local "definition" so you don't havr to spend money twice and possibly get hung up in dumbshit.

    Good luck.

Tethering laws are brutal for these dogs mentally IMO. It's detrimental to the dog mentally and physically really. It's basically close confinement vs open containment. They go from what they perceive as being free yet contained with a chain to just contained with no freedom in a kennel or pen. The kicker is, you get to watch it happen to them over a period of time. That shit was hard to watch. Neurotic behaviors they never had on a chain start to develop. Our law pasted in Pa a few years back now. It did the total opposite of what them fools meant it to do. Just made it harder on the dogs is all it did. You know, the ones that they say they love so much. Now that Texas passed their law I imagine that the rest of the states left that don't yet have tethering laws won't have much problem passing them now. Crazy times. Everyone seems to now think with their hearts instead of their brain.

Definition of the law is extremely important like slim already stated. Not only because you don't want to spend what you don't need to but also if your not in compliance to the T and you got neighbors that fuck with you like treez does you risk a knocking on your door and more than likely the fines start. I'm sure whatever county your in anywhere in the USA has a .gov website. To look up your local and state laws.

You can use cables in Texas. I went to 3/8 cable, it's pretty stiff and doesn't bend very easily so I don't see them choking themselves. I've had them in use for about a month now and no problems so far. I'm like AGK, I hate kennels but am using a handful of them now that the chains got pulled up. I tried telling any state representative that would listen that a kennel is terrible for a dog's mental state but clearly they didn't care enough. I explained to them that a chain and kennel both have the physical barrier but the kennel has the added visual barrier that makes dogs act like zoo animals but again they obviously didn't care enough to not pass the bill. We got screwed over big time and I'm certain other states will follow suit, unfortunately.

  7. The part I don't get is you can't use a chain or " weighted restraint " we already have fur mommies riding around town looking for tided up dogs. They are already talking about trying to make spay and neuter mandatory. I'm on their Facebook page so i can see what they're talking about.
