I have had an opportunity to do just that. In fact, I was URGED to breed to GR CH 35 by his owner, many years ago and I declined. Reason is that there are great dogs that have a known breeding and they aren't hard to find and many are not hard to access. My answer today would still be "no thank you".

  3. im goin that same direction ..but then somtimes i feel whats a ped when hes a better bulldog den some with but then u just dont no thats the scary part.. i kno u declined but have u ever met somebody who did it and it work well or not???

Even if he had doesn't mean the breeding has a better chance to poduceing anything worth while. I say do it. They have a name for the pups it's called scatter breed.

I look at this kind of breeding this way. At some point back thru time every great line started from a dog that they didn't have a history on. Make the breeding and test the pups. However u do that to see if they have what u wanted in the pups. If they don't cull them and don't do it again. Paper is paper and a dog can't read what his papers say he is.

breeding dogs is very important because if you don't get what your looking for then you sale them . if you know where the dog came from as in bloodlines then maybe you take a chance . if you don't the bloodlines then you may have to cull more than usual . so if you haven't bred any like TDK i wouldn't be telling someone to do something you have know idea about what your telling them .

I would only do a breeding like that if i had the time and space to keep all pups, and not be too upset if i wasted my time. Breeding is hard enough to do with proven dogs with a pedigree, let alone a unknown. JMHO

Im not saying something couldnt be produced by the breeding but there are just too many variables for me to ever want to practice breeding to unknowns.

Look goat dogs are dogs. If u don't like the way the pups turn out u cull them. I don't now or have I ever sold a dog. I believe in breeding for purpose and if it don't fit its purpose it gets culled. I believe these facts cross all type of dogs. I guess in ur mind every top dog was breed down from only top dogs. That is bull. If the man likes the dog and it shows everything he wants in a dog why not try it. If it don't work out u cull the pups and move on. People put to much faith in paper. As stated in this thread if the pups turn out he can make up the papers later.

my dogs have no papers but you can bet i know how their bred . your talking 2 years of feed vet bills dog houses and a lot more . so you think before you bred . some blood just doesn't cross well with overs . there's to many reasons to think before you bred . just trying to teach you something . he should try it only if he has money 2 years a doesn't mind culling a lot and keep everyone for himself so know else has to waste 2 years .

U don't have to teach me what it takes. As I said I don't sell dogs. I don't breed for money. If I'm not willing to feed the dogs until they show me if they have what I'm looking for I don't breed. It is possible the pups could turn out to be just what he wants. They could be pot lickers not worth the chain space. I have enough faith in the fact that I see what I like and think it compliments what I have I will breed to see. I keep all my pups if they don't work out I'm out $ but if it does I got more dogs like I want.
