Returning to a human defeating a large well trained Pit Bull....it is (slightly) possible, but takes several things: Fearlessness and the ability to take MASSIVE damage/punishment. But from here it also takes strategy. The Crack/meth head may have the former, but not the latter.

Your best chance is to let the dog stay on the non striking arm (yes while shaking it out) you need the dog on the arm, because if it attacks the legs you go down and are dead, or the throat/body and are dead.

The arm (left if you are right handed) gives you the chance to get the dog down and then on its back where you can then deliver damage to its stomach, groin, and eyes. Even in this scenario if you fought 100% smart /perfectly, and made no mistakes your chances would still be mixed.

So what you need is computer like strategy that really requires extensive training and the ability to implement that strategy while your arm is being destroyed. Drugs will aid your ability to take punishment, but inhibit you ability to carry out a sophisticated and methodical fight strategy.

That is why the smart bet goes on the dog. Also, it depends on how the dog is trained. If you train the dog to target other parts of the body (possible if training with a full bite suit) it becomes much more difficult to defeat the dog.

Lol all one has to do with dogs is stand behind the screen door after opening the main door. Dog comes rushing out, thief dips in and shuts the door behind him. Dog is now outside barking at thief inside robbing the house, simply leave out the back door when done. Had it done before and they were kids that did it, not real pro thieves. Not much is going to stop a determined thief short of you being able to catch them in the act.

That's of course if your not home. If you are home, the dog is hard to beat as a alert system to the owner. The dog will slow down the intruder, theoretically, so the owners can reach a gun. I say theoretically because 8 out of 10 people who think their dog is going to defend them find out that shit ain't true at all and most dogs are curs to people that stand their ground with the exception of a hand full of breeds, that most people dont own lol. I'm of course referring to the general dog, not PP trained dogs. Lmao, those dogs in homes are even more rare than the ones that will engage a criminal inside your home, especially if your not there.

Of course training is important. You start by rewarding the dog for alerting when he/she hears something. Started this with Tori (my new pup) already. When she hears a noise I immediately respond "who's that?" and she alerts. She perks up and starts turning her head to the side and then I say "who's that" again and immediately "good Girl." I do this in the house and in the backyard as well so that she knows that any unusual sound is cause for concern. Doing this type of work and basic obedience starts the process. My last dog, a son of Ch Crazy Legs would not even do this although he could fight other dogs like a champ....this illustrates the fact that many Pit Bulls are not cut out for this sort of work...but some are. You start them young. This comes loooong before you get them out on the field doing bite work. Of course this process is controversial because many claim that Pit Bulls where not bred for this type of thing nor should they be used for PP work, but I know first hand that some are excellent at it.

Dogs have to pass many stages of tests before they get finished but once done they are not going to accept anyone in the house unless you accept them first. And as you....and every expert on the planet knows, you will be arming yourself long before anyone gets past the dog. Every Shago dog I heard of was like this naturally and mine was too. Probably why some people hated him and said he was a menace to the breed.

But like I said before....it just doesn't make sense to target a home with a dog, especially one with a rep like a Pit Bull. When they asked thieves (this study was done by interviewing thieves in prison) the consistent number 1 answer was that the number 1 deterrent was a dog, number 2 and 3 (gun, alarm) were waaaay down the list.

Look, there are no guarantees in life....anything could happen at any time. If you have the Hope Diamond in your home safe, somebody will probably steal it, but a dog increases your security in general, there is no denying that.

In my Hoity Toity neighborhood we have a zillion Labradoodles and cockapoos....bu then again pretty much everyone has a gun, its Texas.

Years ago, after the Hurricane in Louisiana we had a massive influx of their least desirable citizens, and there was a rash of home invasions....one crew even followed my wife home and Trapped her in our driveway.

I am persona non grata for owning pit bulls, there are none in my neighborhood...my neighbor in the back used to report me all the time. Had LE out several times, and the Humaniacs calling. Thank God I did not have a treadmill or even a flirt pole. I basically told the truth: My female hated my male and that was the ruckus. She ate through her kennel and that is why she was marked up. I did everything I could to keep them from fighting, which was the truth.

I can’t count how many bulldogs I’ve fed over the years, if I had to guess it would be somewhere over 300 or 400. I’ve had 2, maybe 3 that I would consider a “guard” or home protection dog, meaning it’s not really in the nature of a game bred bulldog to be used for that purpose.
If someone came to me wanting a bulldog for home protection I’d laugh because they aren’t bred for that purpose, you’d literally have to cull 100 to maybe find one suitable to work with.
The fact that I had a couple that excelled at that job just shows how rare they are. Also I never wanted to teach my dogs bite work, I felt to exploit that drive in my animals was contrary to what in my opinion was in the breeds and my own personal best interest.
The last thing either one of those animals needed was any encouragement to go after 2 legged prey.
Read the chapter in Bobby Halls book about human aggression and the Robert dog. According to BH Robert about killed a home intruder.
The LAST thing I wanted or needed was any reason to get law enforcement involved in my dog hobby!

Yes, there is no argument that this is the view held by most dogmen.

Take a German and or a Malinois or a Doberman as a watchdog. The pit bull was not bred as a defense dog, not that some wouldn't be able to do it, but the pit bull already has a bad image enough so teaching people to bite only contributes to that image.

You guys do understand that it is hard for a dogfighter to take the moral high ground. Just sayin....I don't like GSD's, my first Pit Bull was a phenomenal PP dog and I fell in love with the breed. In 20 years of owning them I have had plenty of dog on dog "accidents" but never ever a problem with a human who did not have ill intent. If you feel you have a right to a pack of dogs spending their life on chains and being matched, then I have an equal right to do with my dog what I wish.

I do not judge you and you most certainly do not have the right to judge me. Fortunately I am at a point in my life where I do not care too much what other people think of me. In terms of children, I am a better father than 99% of the human population, as proven by my amazing son.
