I would say no unless you want to clean a mess up...But I am no expert at crate raising hounds .

Normally, it's not necessary to put water in a crate.
But -- how old is the pup and for how long at a time will he be in that crate?

I keep water with the pup and cedar should be good just like a child you have to clean up for them

Whenever there is talk about crates, I feel it's important to know just how old the dog is and how much time the dog is confined.
No one ever seems to talk about that when they mention crating.....

^ agreed, on both accounts and more.
consideration should be taken as to length of time confined, age of the pup as well as the temperature of the area the pup will be kept in/at

it's an essential element, so common sense is a must to avoid potential health issues

    thank u all.

the pup will be 11 weeks old when i get him.
at nights the pup will be in crate for 8-9 hours.
each 4 hours i will go out with him.

at the day maximum 4 hours...

so i think the 4 hours he can be without water but whats about nights?

If you are getting up for him every 4 hours at night, offer him a little water before you put him back in for the rest of the night. If he wants it, I'd let him drink some, but not too much.

Good idea too to let him relieve himself halfway through the night...
