I have noticed that there are more and more people importing dogs here in North America. Imperios Kennels and German Kennels are just two of the top of my head that have exported many dogs here and I am sure there are others.

I am actually a fan of the international seen and do follow it through connections as well as international forms.

That said, I feel there is no reason that I can think of to import dogs from oversees. Set aside for arguments sake the difference in [ ] rules and at the risk of coming across bias but while there is without question good to very good to even some great dogs abroad, their best are still not anything your honest and true North American dogman or combine has and has better.

My thoughts as to why someone would want to import is to capitalize on the human nature to want something new, something different, something nobody else has and then peddle the shit out of it.

Again this is just my view and I am not in any way knocking any of the international dogmen or their dogs. I just feel that no matter what line you work with here in North America that if you were looking for either a stud or pup from outside your own yard their is some incredible animals available that leave nothing to be desired right here.

I don't give a damn about a dog's country of origin, as long as he's a good one.

The game is thriving overseas because they have less strict animal cruelty laws compared to the States.
Hell, there are some states where you can get in trouble with the law just for tethering a dog or owning a breakstick.

Your post has nothing to do with thread topic.

Then what is the topic? It sounds to me like you're saying there's no reason to import a dog from overseas because American dogmen have better dogs, I was explaining why that isn't always true.

There is, but if I know a guy abroad that has what I'm looking for, why not get it? No shortage of good dogs in the U.S. but that doesn't mean you can't benefit from utilizing good dogs, where ever they come from

I understand and respect what you both are getting at and yes there is some validity at the heart of it. Now with that in mind and more in reference to C.B.'s post, can either of you post the ped of a top international dog that you yourself would like utilize in your own breeding programs today that you can honestly say you can't find as good or better here ?

I love the stuff we have here, but if I had the opportunity to buy a pup off of Gr Ch Croata or Invicto, I sure as hell wouldn't hesitate.

It's not about whether it's as good as or better, it's about what you want. You can find dogs in the states of any line of dogs that are as good as or better than the counterparts overseas, but as bamaman pointed out, unless you are plugged into the game here in the states you don't know Shit. Whereas guys overseas can post videos and be more open about showing a dogs ability in certain sports that a person will like to see and want in their dogs. I breed dogs and fine tooth comb them myself, if I weren't doing that and didn't have a history of gamedogs, I'd prob be sending after pups and prospects I see on vids overseas

I'd take one off of El' Titere or Tango any day over Croata or Invicto.

.....and nor have I, I just meant they are to my mind at least the fast food version of the dogman and if you are not plugged in to the seen then just have a Visa or Mastercard. Get your over processed pup, do up a colorful pedigree on feds online then post the ped here on game-dogs are be congratulated on a fine pup.

Lol just buy a whole litter and put it on the card.

Might as well pick one I like and match him into the rest of his litter (him of course being the only one conditioned), make him a Ch in one weekend. Copy/paste a bunch of breeding information and have it published as my own, throw in a :) here and there :) to make it my own and besides being a Master handler/conditioner I have become a published author, not to mention owner of a new ch who's balls I can't wait to drain for you for a reasonable price of $1000.

It could be all about personal preference.

A year or so ago there was a site from Russia or the Ukraine, and you could order tested and ready dogs for a boat load of money. You could watch their rolls and schooling process by video. You could see their parents rolled as well.

Here in the states, especially if not plugged in, you gotta go with what I told you.

    A lot of difference there.

I would venture to say the very best dog here is no better or worse than the very best dog there and vice versa as well.

Stateside vs. overseas is really no different than leaving Texas and going to Oklahoma expecting to find something better because it is a different state. Plug in any two states for that matter.

    Just saying. S

I don't know, if you're not plugged into the game who are you gonna hook that overseas dog into?

There are plenty of dogmen in the game with dogs from overseas on there yards. It's just a matter of not being kennel blind. Dogs have been exchanging hands from Europe,England, and the islands for decades now.
