I let an older dog and a pup run loose in the yard for ten fifteen mins unattended, they jumped on a 1500 pup out of ch. merengue X Gr Ch Bazooka that I had only a couple of months.
I was looking into the yard this morning thinking about him cuz one spot is empty. That happened two years ago.

not "breeding" my dog....honestly,most people would consider it a good thing since she's unpapered/not "tested"....but man,i really really like this dog

i have had soooo many offers..but never the "right one"

then she got pyometra at 6 years old and that was that....she's ten now and in good health, that's all that matters to me at this point

A mistake I won't make again is selling a prospect to anybody that I don't know on a personal level very well.
Impatient greenies can and will ruin a kennel name real quick.
I also will never farm out another dog ever again. Some people just have no appreciation.

I was going to say that getting a computer was my biggest mistake, but then, I thought about that. There are some terrific people, now friends who I would have surely never met without a computer.

The biggest mistakes have been helping people who had put up a good front of sincerity and honesty on the computer, fooled me to the point of me helping them when all the while, their motives were ulterior. More than once, I have housed them free of bills or rent, given them dogs, tutored them, and even put down payments on property for them, made some of their house and land payments for them, bought them vehicles, taken them food when they wouldn't/couldn't work-------all to be left holding the bag at incredible expense and liabilities.

So, although these mistakes all stem from meeting them on the net, I own these mistakes because of me......my desire to help young, struggling people in the dogs who I had deemed sincere. Keeping the faith and letting it happen a few times is entirely a shortcoming on my part, and I can't put that blame on the net.

While I still maintain faith and hope in sincere, striving people, my walls to the fort have been reevaluated and built much stronger and higher.

I'm telling you people forget quick about the sporting side and get to selling pups to get more dogs, before you know it there in over there heads and the hounds pay. There's no money in the game! You can't make a living, stay within your means.

  13. There was a big dogman that use to farm out his best dogs (his personal picks) to me so I could raise them in a family environment, he thought this would make them smarter, healthier, and happy, and it did. I would pre condition them and get them started as well. The biggest mistake I made was letting two of the dogs get to each other and breed, when I finally got the nerve to tell him,he didn't want any of them because the mom and dad weren't old enough to be tested and he said he doesn't breed that way, so I gave them all away and kept one, and continued to help him with dogs. Over the next few years the sire went on to be a 2x Winner one his best dogs and the dam , the same. The biggest he made was not keeping that litter , the male I kept turned out to be a strong extremely game bulldog. After asking me a million times for the dog , who was my house dog and buddy, i finally gave it to him for a large amount of lute. Point is we all make mistakes with or without these dogs.

DAMN TDK, that sounds like the best-worst situation on this thread.TOO BAD the people you helped turned out to be
CURS...Ive noticed that animal people are differnt, add a sporting comp and it brings out the worst in people.Alot of people think getting into the dogs will be a walk in the park, evan with excellent mentorship people go astray for one reason or another.Alot of times thier head gets so big they think they know it all and have nothing else to learn...
TDK im glad your a gamer and havnt gave up on people as a whole...Thanks for your post, one of the main reasons
    i log on ...

Thank you, EP. I have assisted many who were good as gold and turned out great. They were just as they had billed themselves Makes it all worth it and is a great reward when you try to help that particular type person. Thank goodness they far outnumber the few who were not the kind I thought they were. I appreciate your sentiments, EP. And you're right...............If some aren't true to the game, the game will likely not be true to them. They rarely last long.

If he had been farmin me good ones, free, I would have given him the dog. I'm sure he would have showed his appreciation. That's unless he offered to pay first

He tried to give him the whole litter but he declined because the two dogs hadn't been proven. So pups were given away except one. Couple years later dogs went on to be good ones and person decides those pups were worth a shot, only one left around. I see where the loot came into play, big difference in raising a dog you know will go back to someone else at a particular time and raising one you intend on keeping.

    Sincerely Yours, Cajun

Wow. Standing "O!" I need a mentor or 2 like you. The knowledge and dogs last longer than the money. Those people will look back and miss the great relationship they flushed. Good dogs and friends are NOT a dozen! It pisses me off when people mess up good opportunities. Like the Bills and Thurman Thomas. I felt bad for him the first big game fumble. The rest were comedy... Brother like myself turnin over rocks for good info and friends! Been goin to dog shows wit good results.

To contribute to the post. My biggest mistakes were not starting with good dogs and not buying good dogs when I had the money. I had a chance to buy some well bred dogs and went cheap. I think you all know the results lol. I got on the right track. Bad dogs are just as expensive as good dogs.

I feel that as well Cajun. I wouldnt sell a pet. If it was one of those once in a lifetime dogs, hell naw. If it was a good dog, house pet, and all that age would be the deciding factor for me. I had an American Bulldog my breeders breeder wanted to buy. I wouldn't sell so he settled on a stud to my dog. It would have took a good deal of money for me to part with that dog. Obviously them frogskins was inticin enough to for him to come off his
