A 35+ year close friend of mine, best friend I should say, and I just started a business 2 weeks ago. When we get fully up and running I will hopefully be adding some real substance to this thread as our business very much goes along with this topic.

This has been a obsession of ours for quite a few years now and we think we really got something so we're going to try and get paid doing what we love instead of making millions for someone else while getting peanuts in return. Bossing up I suppose. I won't say the name until our LLC is finalized but we're going to grow gourmet mushrooms. Quite a few species but due to the space we could secure in this current real estate market and the nature of growing mushrooms we can only start with 1 species at this time but it has many strains and they are highly used in restaurants.

We're starting out with Pleurotus djamor, Pinctada margaritifera and Pleurotus ostreatus. Old Soze would love this.

We have come a long way from the days of just doing psilocybin species. Side note for anyone reading this so it don't get confused. Shrooms are NOT in anyway grown here and haven't been in a long time even though we obviously started that way originally into the growing aspect of mushrooms in general. They have absolutely nothing to do with our legit business and until legal never will. Just a little disclaimer there. We expect to get raided regularly so this is a 100% legit legal grow. Honestly I haven't been this excited and ambitious since I first got into the dogs. I also am not a risk taker. Anyone who really knows me, knows this fact. In any sense of the word. I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't think we really got something here and judging that zoning enforcement really doesnt know yet how to classify us for zoning, we don't have any real competition. We've been planting the seeds in the tri state restaurant industry for 2 years now. My partner has delivered to them for 2 decades for a major food distributor. Growing mushrooms isn't like growing plants at all. There is a lot of sterilizing and sterile technique needed as well as an OCD mind towards preventing cross contamination. That's where my expertise comes in (though, I know growing mushrooms as well as a hobby myself but my partner is like I am with the dogs with it.

Anyway, I'm not trying to brag or anything I'm just absolutely thrilled I am getting to do this and I'm proud of it even though we got our work cut out for us and success is never guaranteed but this is very huge for me. Being that I work for millionaires who are highly connected, I've taked with 2 of them and they are both multiple business owners as well as highly respected first class surgeons. I have help both financially as well as advice in running a successful business and access to things like lawyers and advisors now. They both are very very into this idea and want kept in the loop and offered any help they can do. It never hurts to network.

I'll post a few pics. It's a complex process but I'll explain what's going on in them if anyone really cares or is actally interested. Until then I'll just post the pictures.

This is just the beginning so images are crude. We literally just got in the space this past Tuesday so inoculation is first since these species take 35 to 60 days to harvest. We spent the last 4 days sterilizing grain and injecting spores. We will be starting building of the fruiting chamber tomorrow at the buisness, prep work needs to be done as asepticaly as possible so we did the prep work at home since it's a cleaner environment than our business area is currently. We'll need to do a clean room and a lab as well with linear air flow vents, misters and LED lighting before we can move the mushrooms to the space.

I still got some Hells OG flower too but I don't smoke a lot of flower anymore.

 

Star dawg and tres dawg was my go to strains when I was out of ogk. It's funny now because we would call it " drug dealer weed" because really only outlaws could afford to pay what it was going for back in the day.

 

I remember getting the skunk weed way back in late 80s and 90s but it wasn't common and a rare treat when we found it.Wasnt always available around these parts back then.

 

I was 16 yrs old at a concert with some friends in 1986 and we had a bag of skunk and shit we didn't know lol.Man we started smoking and next thing I know we got good looking chick's coming up to us and everyone was looking at us like dam they got it going on.lol We even wound up back stage after the show lol .

 

I like both strains but neither are really in my top 10.

Got my first shipment of spores in today.
Be getting a ton more species in shortly. Have 16 species all together currently so far.



Got most everything needed for the lab ordered and shipping. The grow tents go up in a week or so and we got 10 grain bags going with Blue and Pink oysters colonizing that are about 8 days in. Also got spores multiplying very aggressively in a nutrient suspension we make. I'll drop the name next Friday hopefully. That's when our LLC will be finished.
Things are coming into place. I'm going to put together one very impressive spore bank. I got 3 suppliers on hand. I'm good with the USDA, Pennsylvania department of agriculture and the PA health department. Zoning issues have been resolved and the last hurtle is this cock sucker code enforcement officer being a thorn in or side right now. All in all though we're moving progressively forward every day.

 

Have to swap out straw for cedar in all the dog houses today. Figured I'd get an early start on it before my daughter wakes up and wants breakfast. Lemon up Girl scout cookies hit a bit different with that amount of RSO....
