it was'nt blind billy and they were 20 seconds to scratch back then . and some still wanted the 25 seconds they first came up with . but it was 20 95% or more at that time . now days it's 10 but not south .the dog was injured in the eye and the other was messy . it still was 20 and the few second they said face them . and it might be 12 but hey it takes time sometimes .

Makes sense.I have heard that will happen w. dead people and animals.I guess at that point what you mentioned the dog is not going to make it because it's bowels have shut down.

Mayfields original account of the match

Unless you were there, you are only going by hear say, as there is no footage that I have ever heard of. The first story of the account is usually the most dependable and credible version.
A dog that shits itself happens in rolls, or novice events 99% of the time. Fast lane doggers would make sure their dogs were empty lol

IMO... a cur is a dog that quits and wont do his job no matter what the job. One who licks a pot but wont work to fill it.there are some on here that say a cur is any dog other than" a proven APBT" that is a narrow minded never left the trailer park view.Game is a diff question and dogmen want to own the term ...take it...but a pup that never quits no matter what the dammage an gets the job done, is worth feeding, and no curr.some one wanna tell me that ole BULLDOGS that took on a 2500 lb bull and thrown around like a rag doll ,stomped an gored were not game? ?? Kiss my ars!

a dog that is unable to physically continue can not quit hence the word unable

A dog that quits is a cur. Some are quicker to cur than others. Some are gamer than others.

Bert Sorrells stated "all dogs will quit under certain conditions."

A dog that is "dead game" may not have seen the necessary conditions to cur. Maybe it was killed quick (not hurt bad for long, but hurt bad for a short period of time), died of shock from over-exhaustion, bled out, got too hot, etc...but how often does a dog experience a COMBINATION of exhaustion, heat, blood loss, AND pain...AND duration...AND a lack of success...AND on bottom...AND/OR sick...AND/OR poorly conditioned?

A gambler obviously wanted to put the odds in their favor.

Bert Sorrells also believed a dog might perform better one day than other.

Gameness is a measure of how much resistance a dog can sustain and keep trying to move forward...hence, "the scratch."

100% correct! Fits right in with my statement on rolls and novice response earlier in the thread. I heard lots of people used to lose money by betting against a dog that only dropped its tail lol. Inaccurate sign of a cur most of the time

  19. that dog is by far NOT A CUR. the willingness and drive are still there, but the body won't allow him to go!!!!

A cur is a dog that isn't game. That's the best explaination I've read.
