Pardon my ignorance..but looks to me like the 'yellow rose' dog was owned by kudu and by payday/megabyte/m's,,,,,,,,,obviously the dog was sold/given twice...they just changed the owner to themselves after they bought her..where does it say they bred her Keltic? both peds say that ma baker had her dam

The dam was owned by me but bred by Ma Baker. I bought Dixie from Ma Baker along with her litter mate brother Ma Bakers Seth when the were about 18 months old. I took the dam to the ROM dog Smiler, paid the stud fee, delivered the litter by cesarian section because the dam had a problem delivering, the cesarian section cost a lot of money to do, the stud fee was a lot. I had to take the dam to the stud over a period of about 2 years because she didn't take the first two time I took her to the stud. I then raised the pups, got arrested and locked away and that's how they ended up with the dogs as my family had to get rid of the dogs by giving them away because I wasn't there to look after them. They then registered the dogs as if it was they that bred them (they were very good dogs you see) and I hear Kudu claimed to have bred the dog himself. The registration people had also no right to register the dogs in their names because I did not register the litter or the parents with any registering body. I does not never register any dogs that I bred.

Thanks Kw...I see, sorry to hear that. Too bad your family didn't have any instructions from you..shame you couldn't have contacted them and worked something out.
Registration people obviously didn't know..if you never register, easy to register with no records.

Yep, it's frustrating when you have no options..
Hope you are back up on your feet and carry on

    Thanks for straightening me out.

A registration body is not allowed to register a dog into a persons name if the breeder of the dog did not register the litter with the registration body. The Sire and Dam are also have to be registered with the registration body before they would be allowed to register pups off of them (i NEVER register my dogs). A person that acquired the pups in an honest way by paying the breeder for them would be issued with the registration certificate for the particular pup by the breeder provided the breeder HAD registered the litter. The new owner would then take the certificate (as proof of ownership) to the registration body and they would then register the pup to the new owner.......but apparently not in South Africa........ all the registration bodies here are illegal anyway.

So you owned Dixie and Seth and Ma Baker bred them..
Did Ma Baker have the registration papers for Dixie and Seth..
{1.} Did you get the papers when you bought them..or didn't bother?
{2.} Or did you get the papers and never sent them in to put them in your name?

if it's #1..then the fellas that your parents called to take them..could get the papers from Ma Baker..transfer them into their names and register both..
if it's #2..same thing..the registry can only go by who owns the dogs..if you did;nt transfer them into your name, then the registry only sees Ma Baker as the breeder/owner..

Yes Ma Baker was the breeder but they don't register their dogs either lol. There were never any papers for the dogs just an exchange of cash and then the dogs came to my yard. Registering dogs in South Africa could bring you a whole lot of trouble, there are a couple of registering bodies here that are nothing more nor less than organised dog theft syndicates. So for the safety and security of the dogs its best not to register them at all. Registration papers don't mean nothing as to wether the dogs are good dogs or not. The peds where written on a scrap of paper......good enough for me. I was the owner of the dogs because there was an exchange of cash for the dogs and a handshake.

agree 100% Kelt..then they just put the peds on-line

no different than any place..many years ago..we only handwritten peds for the same reasons

  8. I've never had any problems with in-breeding. A good inbreeding pedigree is the first thing I look for when selecting a dog. If it was done properly with the right dogs; it's the only way to develop a solid foundation for a specific trait in a dog. How long you can do it depends on how well it was managed, and how effective your culling was along the way. This could be a lengthy subject, and would best be answered by someone who might know your particular line.

Well put, breeding based on a particular dog, or particular litter of dogs, or close relatives within a line is a great tool to lock in wanted traits. Of course culling is heavily needed.

It's impossible to say which way would be better. best thing is to do both/ all combinations and see which produces best.

I have done a lot of half bro to half sister mating's lately, and for a change i did a couple out-cross breeding's
to see what would happen. The interesting result was that my out-cross litters are more consistent within than litter than the
    inbred stuff.

Isn't inbreeding and line breeding supposed to decrease variation?

    Anyone else have this experience?

If done correctly line/in breeding will not decrease variation, but rather, bring dominance of certain genetics to the top..or vice versa. When you say that your outcross was more consistant than your inbred stuff...exactly what are you referring too?
