I do not in any way support dog fighting, but i do not believe that boxing is any less cruel or w/e. How many ppl have died in boxing and other fighting sports, i believe the numbers are huge. And if you do some more research you will find that there are many 1-2 xgl dogs out there so not many must die.

Lets keep this particular thread about breeding genetic flaws into a breed (of humans, or dogs). If you would like to discuss the current topic, please start a new thread for it. Thank you.

    Use your imagination a little.

Boxing matches are only highly publicized because they are legal, just as dog-fights would be if they were legal. In fact, when dog-fighting was legal, fights were highly publicized. And dog-fighting only became a federal issue fairly recently, so it is not like the history of underground fights is that old. Not that much older than Las Vegas gambling.

Of course, there would be much more money in dog-fighting if it were legal, just as the gambling industry has made boxing or greyhound racing much more profitable for everyone involved. Nor would fighters have to post thinly veiled hints on internet message boards or avoid arrest and prosecution.

If the only issue were money, the gambling industry has already retained the best lobbyists money can buy and state-of-the art PR. If anyone could make it happen, the casinos could. At the same time, very few people have any financial interest in keeping dog-fighting illegal.

So if everybody wins from legalized dog-fighting (except the dogs) and nobody loses (except the dogs). If politicians, casinos, governments and dog-fighters all stand to make money, why hasn't there been a movement to legalize it?

The reason that dog-fighting remains illegal is because a sufficiently large segment of the voting population has a moral, not financial objection to fighting dogs. Learn it and like it.

Politicians vote in accordance with that portion of the public's wishes, because they fear being punished at the polls. No representative wants to be on record as voting "against" dogs. No casino wants the reputation of promoting cruelty to animals. Even their lobbyists will not touch this one.

In this case, society gets its way. Dog-fighting remains illegal.

    You lose.

Hitler wanted to create "pure" humans too. He wanted a race of blonde hair and blue eyes (which is actually less healthy than dark hair and eyes)

So, if you want someone, or a group to scan all of us, check our hips, take our blood and pick through the population (HE chose to kill off the unwanted curs)
Than we can indeed have this wonderful race of humans... sounds like a load of crap to me though. If it's something you seriously want to ponder than there's something wrong.

No one is exempt from genetic flaws. Humans having babies and breeding dogs for working purposes have nothing in common but science. Humans take care of dogs, we sell them at 8 weeks, buy their food, they are completely dependant on us. There is an enourmous difference... period.

We're discussing purposely breeding genetic flaws into the human and canine genetic pool, not Hitler and his attempt at creating a master race....Although I do believe the gene pool does need some chlorine, just not on a race/ethnic basis.

Of course there will always be illness and diseases, but why the hell should we intentionally lock them back into the gene pool. If I had some debilitating disease, I wouldn't try to pass it on to my son. If I needed a child that bad...I'd look into adoption.

I completely agree with us being the sole deciding factor in what we do and don't do with our dogs. If a dog breeding doesn't work out or has an undesired defect, it gets culled. Not exactly the same with a child...people get really upset if you do. So what gets bred must get kept. Dogs are ours to do with as we wish...period.
