Woods Snooty Cur???

Why not. I believe a dog can show you what he or she can do, but to see what he or she can produce is to give them a chance by breeding them. I believe in the gene pool.

If we look back in history some of the breeders had curs in their programs. An I sure if people today look back in the dogs they are feeding to day will see dogs that we're call curs and dogs that was never touched....

 

I hope people don't think I'm dising Snooty! NO DOUBT he produced and was A MAJOR catalyst in some greats!!!

 

I think those guys bred curs because they had a bunch of dogs and less eyes watchin. With the way things are today, hell naw he wouldn'ta made it!!! Who has time for breeding and waitin on curbred pups??? Maybe back in the day when a yard full of dogs didn't look suspicious I would take a chance. Today there is no reason IMO.

 

Havin a cur in the back of your ped is one thing. Breeding to a dog you know is cur is different. If you keepin em all for yourself, go for it

 

In Mayfields book he claimed Snootys linage to be false as well as others including Eli,,, Tombstone and Davis....
Snooty was the only one that Mayfield didnt give his accounts on how those dogs were bred and I wonder
if this was ever shared or has any else heard Snooty other pedigree???

Mayfield also claimed that all the dogs mentioned above wouldnt produce because people wouldnt know how tobreed them TRUE as Mayfield was a advocate for inner family breeding and felt that style porduced TRUE...

Well regardless how Snooty was bred and performed,,,
he sure produced better than a majority of those TRUE dogs...

A friend has Snootys headstone from AB that is for sale...

I like C Notes post as to having them way back is one thing but breeding to them is another,,,
hindsight is one thing but having the audacity to back thier bitch up to one let alone pay a stud fee...

I also like StinkRocks post that PRODUCTION of an individual far outweighs the past
and the chances of that GOLDEN SPERM & EGG manifesting a healthy pup that gets all the
best opportunities to mature into the future...

I had some Banjo offspring and I felt they were a bit too close to Banjos sire SadSack and we prefered to avoid linebreeding
that way for that reason,,,
But I will say that if I had curs in my pedigree I rather them be curs in the fast lane against great competition
and just not some back yard cur that wasnt rank...

Dogs like Snooty,,, Sack,,, Bo,,, Rascal,,,Bullyson,,,Bandit
get a pass because of their production significance...

Back yard curs like Frisco really turned me off as well as alot of his offspring being rank,,,
but today there are plenty of great frisco crosses that deserve there continuation...

I f a line fails to make grade I am sure the line will fade away,,, some sooner than others...

Another super producer that was rank was the Black Shine dog aka Mayfields N!####
with out these curs there wouldnt be alot of lines that show such success today...

Snooty played a big enough part in history that his name itself is a line,,,
I always found interest in those whom linebreed on these type dogs with success
as it would seem that line breeding on a cur and the chances of isolating those gennes would prevail more...

I know selectivity and luck has alot to do with it also but line breeding on a cur seem like going backwards...

 

elias was it you had offspring or we had ? You say it in the same sentence . how do you know the Nigger dog quit ? i know i read he did but and some say some seen him do it . but i ask they the 1 guy told mer he never seen him rolled . so is it a story or is it real . banjo and bb red some offspring that wasn't to good and some that was awesome .

banjo and bb red were great as well as some offspring and i wouldnt take that from them,,,
dead serious had better luck outcrossing those dogs and linebreeding back...
I dindnt like their scary attitudes or the fact sack was a cur so i preferred to not line breed on them is all I said...

before mr foxs site the forsythes and j williams shared their experiences with blacky and tudor never contested it...

just wondering if you was there to know what Tudor said or didn't say ? you know i don't know what was on the site about the Nigger dog ? i don't know if he was a cur but i do know 1 person that people say he said he quit told me he doesn't know because he didn't see it . me i don't care i just ask because people would say he said this when i didn't think he did . i have plenty of stories but their old .

 

I could care less either way also and no I never met Tudor or carver...
Mayfield was the only one that claimed otherwise from what I understand
and was also the only one that spread the rumors about the others being bred different...

I like all sides of the story...

No disrespect to him but I take everything he says with a grain of salt. it always appear he gives underhanded compliments and then bumps himself up. Even before when he had a page on the internet, he had these "tributes" when he would spill information about these gentlemen. he did one on Maloney talking about he was cheating on his wife and all this other shit that had nothing to do with DM as a dogman. I also don't trust no one that calls the cops on other people because they disagree with him.
