    And again,

I think that breeding with ONLY the show ring in mind will produce amstaffs. Because all you have to accomplish is good conformation. But, a bulldog has attitude, athleticism and intelligence on top of that.

I don't see where that insults anyone who would breed a true bulldog with a conformation flaw to another true bulldog in order to fix that conformation flaw. . but breeding with ONLY the conformation in mind is what I said.

We can't test our dogs or match them.... I have a nice life, pay a mortgage, am over 40 years old and have stayed out of trouble for quite some time now. WHY oh why would someone like me want even think about participating in illegal activities... I've sat in a prison cell before, for many, many years.... it ain't fun! Don't plan on going back, God willing....

Having said that: My dogs just got done performing on the carpet mill and one will do sprint work later tonight. They perform, with rest all season long. NO - they do not perform in fighting contest and never will. Where I show my dogs if they can not perform, they definately will not place for a overweight and out of shape dog does not do well in the ADBA or AADR.

Yes, we want to keep the dogs true and most of my dogs peds are very similar to those dogs that perform in all aspects. We just aren't into it.

I'll stand by my statement that if you took a handful of AADR and ADBA Champions, had a great breeder and went to mexico, culled for several years and worked the dogs you could have a yard that was just as good as any in the performance aspect....

Did I say go match your dogs?... No. Like I said if you are breeding your dogs for show alone you are not breeding APBT any more. If that's what you want fine. Different strokes for different strokes. You want Show Dogs that's your biz .

You should also know that while thats a risk you are not willin to take there are plenty who have no problem doing so. So the APBT is goin nowere. Bred and injoy whatever kind of dogs you want.:)

With that being said I'm in the military. I work at the pentagon and have a beautiful daughter who's life I don't plan on missing a second of. I'm not doing anything out of illegal either.

And I'm sure you know just cuz there peds are the same don't mean there aint a world of difference beteween your dogs and "others" with like peds.

well i do attend shows as often as i can and to tell you the truth i enjoy it .................. if you have read thru thread then you should have noticed that i never said anything negative about breeding for showdogs on THIS thread ............ but its not hard to see by reading you responce that you must see something wrong with it by the way you are defending it ... just think all that hard work you are putting in doesnt amount to squat in the bulldog world as far as what i do or dont do that is my thing .......... i never atacked or question anyone person because its their dogs and they can do what they want.. i dont care one bit .....
and you got me pegged buddy i am ====== not actually breeding for hog hunting or bite work and you frown upon breeding for show but you actually do enter combat contest with these dogs I doubt you'd be on here talking about it. Maybe trying to learn and pretending you know about it./... as alot on here do.....[/QUOTE]

I do not breed these dogs so your efforts are mute and leave the reverse-psychology stuff for the professionals....

Vic - of course there is some difference, mine won't be matched. My dogs have show Champions as parents only, the rest of the pedigree is from "working" dogs. Now would these parents have been good "working" dogs? I don't know but there chance would have been as good as any in their litter.

I don't breed and have no desire to breed, I leave that up to others who are much more qualified. Unfortunately that isn't the case with 99% of the dogs that do get bred.

this is why the term bulldogs and pit bulls/pet bulls comes in, you know what you got and theyre just not bulldogs and not off bulldogs. You have show pet bulls

people either own pit bulls or bulldogs, simple really

and why does everyone seem to think everyone who owns these dogs live where owning bulldogs is illegal? I see it as something people say to make them feel better knowing they dont own bulldogs or even dogs off bulldogs

    Hi guys,

has anyone ever experienced some problems (health issues) with line(in)breeding? my girl has some linebreeding on her dame's side... her dame's mother and father are half brother and sister. luckely my girl's sire and dame are not even close related!

please share information because i know it's sometime common in APBT to linebreed.

    Thanks.

  18. Hey here's a thought,, wouldn't it be nice if all the show dogs were also working dogs? lol
