Sarona never had Pure Hemphill in their bloodlines. Those dogs you refer to was bred by a friend ours name Earl Adams who most of the blood came another friend others name Clarence Yates.
BTW our Kennel name is IronLine not just Iron, but thanks anyway.

That's not correct. You are referring back in the 1920's were Hemphill and McCoy went and got dogs from Lightner bloodline.
The last of the straight Hemphill bloodline was stock were up here in the North was breeding like Maud, Flame, Ty and Jake.

Ch. Iron Spike R.O.M. sire was inbred Red Devil/Corvino dog.

I thought he was out of OK. Anyway he was older when he got started in the OFRN dogs. What he had went back to Geronimo II who born the same year Ch. Iron Spike R.O.M. was born.

I too knew Tanya from Cold Steel Pits. She use to email me for advise and opinions.
Friends of mine in FL. still use that stock today off Boogieman.

I heard people run their mouth about Gr. Ch. Boogieman but little do people know the whole bottom side of his pedigree was pit stock from Smith's Otto Otto. I had some of the blood from Marty Thomas who bought up here from FL. and was bred it to Angus who was bred down from Ch. Iron Bobcat R.O.M.

In Stratton's Book there is a guy in front of a red tracker with his dogs, those dogs were from that stock.
Smith's Otto Otto I remember produced two recognized Sporting Dog Journal champions.
One I can remember off the top of my head was Piug's Ch. Rebel.
Let not forget the Smith's Otto Otto was also the grandfather of the famed Head Hunter's Gr. Ch. Solution!!
These dogs traced back to Red Devil/Geronimo lines.

I like mr sparks/hetricks/colby blood on the top,,,
dont know much about the sarona dogs besides they got big and faded away,,,
I dont inderstand why they crossed the otto otto blood to some ruffian dogs...

sure the ruffian blood had some good blood behind it,,,
but boogie man looks to be sking down the am staff slope...

    Mike,
If at all possible could you shed a little more light on the Boogieman blood and CSPits in general, either here or in a PM. I have a dog that is tightly bred on that dog in my dogs topside. I still have great contact with the breeders, whom I am sure you know but I feel awkward asking those questions because of my nature. I'm in the camp of the less you know the better. The stories I have heard about that dog from external sources are all over the map. Appreciate it in advance.

Not sure why you consider Boogieman dogs looking like Amstaffs? Here is my tightly bred Boogieman on the topside male at about 18 months and 50 lbs. Ten pounds larger than both of his parents.

His head looks larger in that photo but in reality he is rangy and tall. Here's another pic at about 20 months old.

My bad, here is a better overall photo to show the ranginess. About 18-20 months here.

  12. Good looking dog Rob. I have a boogieman bred dog as well. Imo the frame on these dogs is a bit different than your typical gamebred dog. I can't say that I see amstaff, but I do see a show type structure. However being fooled by looks is a risky mistake to make.

I would say the papers are going that way,,,
    distant cousins to the core,,,
    bred for looks???

I would say those dogs are alot closer bred to staffs than bulldogs that evolved with the core...

Something else I noticed is the hemphill/maximillian/ironline dogs seemed to get crossed more to the staff lines than any other...

staff blood that indian sonny showed in the sixties,,,
the doc dog as been staff for atleast fifty years...

when dogs quit being bred for any other objective than their genetic task,,,
when dogs are bred for looks and win ribbons,,,
    they are staffs IMO...

Your dog is good looker indeed,,,
looks alot like my old house dog...

You are probably right, late 60's you would see A litter of like 6 and one or two would LOOK like pure RN dogs they just wer'nt any pure around So. Texas then for sure! All I really new was what old timers passed on in conversation. At one time every puppy peddler in Houston had Brownlow! But like I mentioned Chicken Sam went through 30 to get one good one just because he could usually talk people into letting him take A look at there dog! Never really cared what color they were even at that time I was told there wer'nt any pure around, that dos'nt mean there wasn't. Thanx for the input!
