Mag r u saying your definition of a good producer puts out winners IN EVERY LITTER? Do u know how to add, subtract, AND DIVIDE? If u take 100 offspring, and 5 of them make ch, oppose to 500 offspring and 15 make ch, TECHNICALLY BY THE NUMBERS THE FIRST DOG IS THE BETTER PRODUCER. The second dog tripled the num of ch, but it took quadruple the offspring to do it. In no way am I saying zebo was a great producer, BUT HE WAS A PRETTY GOOD 1! And may bfS soul rest in peace, BUT THERE ARE A NUMBER OF DOGMEN WHO HAVE SUCCESS WITH SOME LINES BUT TANK WITH OTHERS! Everyone knew his perception of the line after he spent years with it, but one mans junk is another ones treasure

BELIEVE IT! A ch per 15-20 dogs def isn't bad but there are ALOT BETTER! Based on those numbers i wouldn't say he "produced his ass off" but thats just me. And Mags got dogs down from dogs that def threw better percentages than that

 

see this is where u all are wrong!!...I never said the dogs mag is talking about % werent better than zebo!!...I kno that other dogs out produced zebo....my argument is zebo produced and produced good!!...mag and Erie and the dude that got banned were saying zebo % were not good and I'm saying how in the hell can u say that when he had alot less offspring (that's documented) then some of the popular studs in history!!...anytime u can have 2 pages of offspring and become ROM u are a good producer!!!...those dogs mag showed are gone and that was bacc in the day!!...if he has a stud or brood bitch that is producing 3 to 4 ch and grch in single litters then I'll bet my left nut he's going into bullshit comp!!...it's easy to have a dbl grch when u do that!..lol...yeah, it's ppl that have title dogs on their yard, yeah, their is ppl that have rom dogs on their yard but to be producing at the rate mag is talking about is hard for me to believe in today's world!!..

 

I think in most of Zebo's breedings he was bred to produce hybrid vigor offspring in alot of yards that were either getting stale or lacked mouth. After the said breeding most yards leaned towards their own famalies or lines and bred back in that direction to maintain what they saw as a stable family of dogs. We all need to remember that sometimes a freak dog seems to pop up and amaze the dogworld, in most cases they do not produce like themselves as they are so above the rest that for all the genetics to line up and reproduce offspring compareable to themselves is almost impossible. If it wasn't we would all be feeding Zebo's, Art's and Pit Generals wouldn't we?

If a man can control the breeding within a stable family that can compete at the highest levels and keep that family sound then he will rarely outcross to a completely different line, the exception seems to be when a dog like Zebo comes along and tempts the man to try his blood. Of course the man will use his best base family as the foundation for this type of breeding and of course the man will continue to breed that direction as it is the direction he has been traveling and to ignore that would be obsurd. I think people need to give the credit where it is due and most times that means credit the bitch that was bred to the ace as she is the foundation,,,why...because the odds of recreating an ace in one breeding is slim to none. I'll take that one furthar, 99.9% of the time an ace can not recreate himself or produce another ace therefore the line leans back towards the average of the strain.

I'd like to respark this debate with a new question: Whats the best hypothetical breeding that you could make with Zebo to recreate Zebo? I would take him back to his dam myself but do have other ideas that I think would be interesting to try.

Although I don't consider Art a freak as he put them out before he was stolen. Also dogs bred much like him also put good ones down. Ever heard of Wood's Trouble. I kind of agree with most all the points NGK made about Zebo bringing vigor into a bloodline.Zebo dogs or the ones that came from the same blood was the most athletic dogs I ever saw.You will hear some people say Zebo dogs wasn't game.Well a lot of people would go with that theory and test them to the extreme.You know a self fulfilling prophecy in away.But the ones that had success with Zebo dogs wasn't trying to prove how game they where.They was betting that yours couldn't stay with them long enough to find out if they where game or not,and live.I like NGK 's idea about which dam would u have bred Zebo to reproduce himself.I'm not totally sure how Zebo was bred so I would say it would have to be one of Floyds' bitches.Maybe thats why Zebo blood clicked well with Bullyson/Eli blood.
