  5. wisconsindog

    wisconsindog Big Dog

i know it is way back but the guy that bred zebo Lonzo Pratt ,told me somthing valuable after 4 generations the blood line disapears and scintificly also so if your dog has zebo 6 or 7 gens back that is not a zebo dog anymore

  6. El Mexicano

i kno that i was ust pointing that out for mntman.he prob already knew that but i was just saying

so if Sorrell's is the name of the breeder and not of the dog it wouldn't be considered a Sorrell dog?

Where are you drawing that conclusion from Defend? The answer quite simply is "no" thats not correct. Bloodlines can refer to either dogs of a particular family of breeding or dogs bred by a specific kennel with a specific goal in mind for generation after generation-and made a name for themselves. Sorrels is a bloodline in itself, and if you look at the pedigrees of their dogs you will understand why-they have bred all the same "type" of dogs for generation after generation succesfully.

I was asking I wasn't drawing a conclusion. I heard before that a name of a person is not considered a bloodline. Just a line out of a dog. So it is a Sorrell's dog?

His Lines are Van Pelt's 75% and If asked where was Van Pelt's bred off of I will say Zeebo because VP is a Zebo Decendent crossed to Colby and all off spring were Linebred over and over.

    The breeding will be like
    50% Sorrrel's and 37.5% Van Pelt's and 12 .5% cross of RED BOY/JOCKO/NORROD
    Or close to that.
I hope to prove a couple pups in weightpull and take them back to Dee.

There has already been a thread on this but I can't help myself.
You already admitted that your dog has no titles in weight pulling. Yet, you insist on breeding 2 unproven dogs in hopes that they will produce weightpullers.....

You have no idea as to what the Sorrells line will do for your line. Even still, you do not even know how to spell Sorrells. I truly doubt that you know enough about the line to know what the Sorrells line will do for your dog.
You are doing nothing more than further scatterbreeding your dogs.

If you truly wanted to produce dogs that can improve what you have, you shouldn't add an entire new line of dogs to a pedigree that is already pretty scattered. If you want to produce quality dogs, work with what you have and perfect it.
Adding Sorrells to the pedigree will do nothing more than put a pretty name on paper and cause further inconsistencies. IMO

Brothermarree, you seem like a nice guy but you are breeding for the wrong reasons. If you weren't, your dogs would be thoroughly proven. (not proven by meeting your expectations but by surpassing the competition and proving worthy to be bred through worthy means. This has not been done. You have already admitted it.)

brothermarree but why in the hell are u breeding to this...

A.D.B.A. CONFORMATION DOGS ON A BIGGER FRAME!!!!!

  20. rocksteady

    rocksteady I'll drink to that..

time and time again people breed unproven dogs (in whatever they want to compete in) and when the pups do not turn out or meet expectations, they blame it on someone elses' line or dog.. "oh must be the XXXX in them to make them like that". Yet that XXX line or dog has numerous proven dogs behind it... Remember that peds dont make the dog.. dogs make the peds. So what good is a pretty ped when the dog itself is unknown what it can or cannot do..

Now who knows.. every breeding is a risk ..even great dogs produce bad ones.. and some bad dogs have gone on to produce a good one..but IMO the only people who should do those types of breedings are those who know what to look for, have the expertise and years of research and hands on behind them.

The breeding is done.. and hopefully you've taken in all that has ben said, you plan to keep and cull (or farm a few out to people that know what they are doing) And hopefully you wont let the sorrells line be tainted any or given a bad name.
