before you go any further, let me give you some more advice. Don't breed your dog. Spay her now. You don't know if your dog is a true pit, or a mutt. And your uncles 100lb. male, he is certainly a cur mutt. People like you breeding your dogs are the reason the rest of us are getting our dogs taken away, banned, and whatever else. Spay the mutt now, and forget about breeding. Theres enough pits on death row.

A true bred APBT could NEVER weight 100lbs (unless it was PG, and I stilll don't think THAT's possible)! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't breed your dog. If she's not registered, her puppies can't be registered, which pretty much means that they could only be PETS. I guess you could train them to work (in theory), but you don't even know how the parents would perform. You have no right to breed your dog and make more puppies just so you can "see how they look". By doing that, you are taking potential homes away from dogs who need them badly.

Thank you for attempting to educate yourself on the breed-we need more people to do that these days.

pit collision, i know i'm new here on this site as well, and i can tell you from everything i've read so far, these people know what they are talking about. even though i am new on this site, i have had extensive experience with dogs in general, and have owned APBT's for the last two years. i have a dog who comes from champion bloodlines, and i have not thought of breeding him yet. simply because i don't know enough yet, nor could i guarantee the pups would go to a good home or any home at all. there are far too many BYB's out there who breed their dogs because they think it will be fun or a "good experience". please remember that these are not toys that can be gotten rid of when the fun element has passed; these are real, living & breathing animals who didnt ask to be brought into this world. espcially since you don't even have a pedigree on your dog, nor do you even know if it is a purebred. take everyone's advice, SPAY HER and love her until the day that she does. check out my rednose female - she is 100% purebred APBT and looks it far more than your dog. however because i don't have any way of registering her or proving what she is, she won't ever be bred. do everyone on this site and dog-owners in general a favor, please, please, please, DON'T BREED YOUR DOG

  4. take rocks advice and spay her and love her, without papers there in no way to tell if she is a colby dog or a pitbull.

  5. Thank you everyone for the info you all gave throughout this thread, even though at times I didn't want to listen. Since this thread, my pup has grown up a lil' and has become more than I expected. She is very loyal, playful, and hasn't shown any aggression towards any other animal (except cats, but I think that's just a dog thing). I have posted new pics of her in my gallery if you'll like to take a look at what she's become, but of course I am not tryin' to brag and throw it into anyone's face, she's is my best-friend and that's all I ever expect from her. Again, thank you all for your kindness to me and also your great advice.

She is a very cute dog but IMO she looks like a mixed breed (looks more retriver/ boxer to me) I hope you have taken prior advice and have had her spayed and are not going to breed her.

On evryone saying that there is no way that a apbt can be 100lbs, how can u explain a kennel's site that have apbts on there that size with a full pedigree, for example www.muglestonspitbullfarm.com

You have a cute dog . It should not matter to you if she is a mixed breed or not. She is very cute. If you truly loved her and other dogs you would get her spayed. What good is breeding her going to do except: put her health at risk, make more unwanted puppies, maybe cost you alot of money if she needs a c-section. Their are to many mixed breeds and pure pitbulls in shelters right now. Please do not become a BYB and further help to destroy the image of our dogs.

Please just do some research on the breed. These dogs are just mutts with oversized heads. These are not true APBT. These dogs tend to have alot of health problems and unstable temperments. They have been mixed with another dog somewhere ,but some registry's continue to register them because they are popular and make them alot of money. Most people on this site would not own one of those $3,000 mutts if it was given to them. People that breed oversized mutts like that are destroying our breed.

Keep in mind, anyone can forge a pedigree. UKC or ADBA or whatever registry isn't there watching the dogs have at it, lol, they just have to take a person's word that the sire and dam are who the breeder says they are....kinda like the honor system. Although doubtful a 100 lb. dog would be pure APBT, I do think it's possible if people breed for size. Remember, the standard says weight is not important so long as the dog is proportionate, meaning that there were dogs 100+ years ago when the standard was written that were big. These are a working breed, and that is why our standard allows for such wide variations unlike standards for most other breeds.

If you think those are pitbulls you have a lot too learn. Do you not see the obvious mastiff type traits in some of those dogs? They are mixed with English Bulldog and to a lesser extent Johnson American Bulldog. There is not even a hint of terrier left in those mutt, cur, man haters. That person should be ashamed to be breeding these absolute pieces of sh*t.

Through select breeding over a long time you can somewhat change the atributes of a dog, and where i live alot of people like size on their dogs so if ur breeding ur dogs larger than the standard, u still have a consumer. How can u call the dogs mutts when almost all dogs are mixed somewhere down the line, man haters when u know nothing about the dogs, and a cur when u have never seen them in action unless i have another definition of cur

  15. maximusab

    maximusab Big Dog

They are mutts because they fit no standard of any breed remotely close to the APBT. If proplr want big , bully dogs they should get a mastiff. These dogs aren't big. They are short and stocky. Much more so than any pitbull standard. And if you are breeding dogs just because you "have a consumer " than you are a puppy peddeler. I didn't say they were all man haters. But when you breed dogs for looks alone then you are much more likley to get undesirable temperments. Anyone that has had exposure to these dogs knows that they have a much higher percentage of man aggression. Anyone that says differnet doesn't know what they are talking about. Also even when breeding very selectively from proven game tested lines, gameness is very rare. So how rare do you think it is in untested, non-game lines bred over four or five generations. So yes most of them are curs. Just because your dog will fight doesn't make it a game dog. And if you have seen these dogs in action then you need to find some real dogmen.

Are you serious. This type of breeding is destroying our breed. The consumers are no better. I have no problem with people breeding or buying these mutts. Just do not call them American Pit Bull Terriers , because they are not. The majority of these dogs will have health problems and get out of breath by going to the bathroom. Apparently you do not know any thing about our dogs or you would not have made such a stupid statement. Please just do some research on the breed and you should learn alot. If you do any research you will find that those 100lb. dogs are completely different from an APBT.

I hear what evryone is saying but u have to remember the pitbull and amstaff was once the same dog but through select breeding they are now different.
