I think people do it so they can still show their dog. Altered animals aren't typically allowed in the show ring.

When I got my girl spayed, there was no trauma and she is better off not getting pregnant( for the pups sake). Spaying and neutering is the best thing I have done for her, although there is a myth out there that a dog needs to have at least one litter to be a greater dog(got that info from some old folks). It could be true, but I am not willing to risk any pups life.

 

There was a guy on the news about 1 year ago did it. Said he felt bad for his dog and wouldn't want to go without his so had them put in. The dog didn't even know.

I used to work for a Vet back in 1982 that did vasectomies on dogs so that their owner could still show them.

I think dog nuts are a bit more ridiculous than any plastic surgery. Dogs cant see back there, and they dont have a clue its gone. Its basically like us having our appendix taken out, but we want a fake plastic one to replace it...even though we wont ever remember its gone, and sure as hell cant see it in there. Oh well, I agree with the vet they quoted "if it gets people to neuter their dogs, I'm all for it".

I'm going to show this to my husband he got pissed at me when I neutered our male Russian Blue cat. same issue as the above stated by JuciyCa. Funny really..... I do agree with the people who want to show comment as well it's very true.

 

I think its probably for some of these guys who are pressured to neuter but have that human attachment to their dog's testicles. That way they can convince themselves that they haven't "chopped" anything off, LOL.
