Controversial...?

Hey Tookie I like the name and I know exactly who Tookie is. Alot of people are so judgemental. How can you judge somebody about his or her dogs name when half the people you see with pitbull half some type of negative name. Tookie was someone who tryed to better his life while in confinment. I think Tookie is a good name if you think about it, he was a big bad mother lover. Did a terrible act was confined and put down. Sounds like a pitbull to me....

 

Tookie you said that Jeeperino seemed like the kind of person who thinks that if it's not pure bred then it is nothing. I agree to that and think that is just fine when you are on an APBT site. Just because your dog was called a mutt doesn't mean anything. I have owned a couple of mutts and loved them. Relax.

 

Tookie looks good He's a cutie, & kudos to you for rescuing him. With all the people out there naming their dogs "Hitler" or "Satan", why worry about Tookie?

 

AGREED! I ALSO HATE WHEN PEOPLE NAME THEIR DOGS NAMES LIKE - KILLER,MURDER,PSYCHO,DEVIL,SATAN.... ETC

MAKES THE DOGS LOOK EVEN WORSE TO THE PUBLIC

i love this site , and have learned alot, but there are a few that are pretty Harsh, telling someone there dog is a mutt, whether it be mixed breed or not, I just think there are nicer ways to get ones point across sometimes.

lol...yes, I know a dog that live in the Philipines and his name is Sadam Husein.....and many people there call there dog Adolf or Hitler....I realy dont know why but it sems funny to me.

 

It is just a name, why the big fuss. I don't know too many dogs that are not named after something, or someone.

I named my absolute favorite dog (a dobe) Schindler, you know from Schindler's list. Some people didn't get it. Oscar Schindler ( "von ere" Schindler, I believe ) was a nazi, but a great man. In case you haven't read the book or seen the movie 'Schindler's List', he was a very high ranking nazi who ran a camp. He was very wealthy because he ran an iron factory out of the camp. The jews worked making the iron pots and pans, which were in crazy demand during the war, money meant almost nothing, but goods were still needed. Cast iron cookware was huge and this genius man made a fortune, which he used to pay-off other nazi officials to keep things the way he wanted them. He did not kill the old, young, sick or what not, kept families together, took as good of care as possible of the jews in his camp and had to pay other nazi's off to keep his list. The jews would ask him to put their family members on his list to get them transferred from other camps to his so that they could be together and survive the war. Hence, Schindler's famus list, which came with a $. He ended up saving some 20,000 jews with his scheme. He was a criminal after the war (for being a nazi) and a memorial was built for him by the jews. Dobermans are German, the name is German, Schindler was a genius, my dobe was a GENIUS ( he practically understood English) I like the way it sounded... so, it made a great name.
BUT on many occassions people would give me crazy looks when they found my crop eared, studded collared doberman was named Schindler! There was even an incident where a cop was giving me a hard time (don't ask, my record is clean but he came to my house) he was like, " OH... Schindler, huh?" Idiot...

 

...bottom line:

who has to be happy with the name?

...YOU do! ...that's what matters most...

 

I am the one who referred Tookie to this site. Who is anyone to tell him that he can't be here? There are users that don't even own a dog at all and are here to learn more about the breed. But I guess just like in life, there are always those who are negative towards anything in life. I totally understand why he chose the name Tookie because of the death row issue. I don't think anyone should hold back what they want to say whether its negative or not because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Im sure Tookie can accept a little criticism. I do honestly think Tookie looks more like a pit than a shepherd.

 

If Tookie came to the shelter I worked at, he would be dubbed an Australian Cattle Dog (aka Heeler) mix. Cute though, but no, not much pit if any in him (going by photos).

PS. might want to edit that second photo, it's a little XXX. I really hope I'm not the only one who noticed!

 

I personally think the person "tookie" was a murderer who got what he well deserved. But as for the name, it don't matter what you name him. You're the one who has to live with the dog, so whatever name you give him is fine. I have a dog named Atilla, I'm sure Atilla the hun has a much bigger death list then tookie did. But my dog is actually the biggest wimp I may have ever met. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks, as long as you're not out letting your dog rip up your neighbors cats and stuff like that, you'll be alright.

 

I'd rather name my dog Tookie than Sadam. But, hell, a name is a name. You wanna know who my dog was named after? Howie Mandell. The shelter staff though there was a resemblance.

 

hey!!!! i got a cousin named tookie if you wanna name your dog after him,.,,lol...name your dog whatever the hell you want...bush would be a good name,,,nevermind that would be bad for the breed lol...people get wedgies in here every day pick the ones you like and ignore the rest everyone is just giving advice..anyone in GA going to the show this weekend???

for the record, i can take the heat. it didn't bother me as some ppl may have thought. ppl are entitled to their opinions. who am i to take that away. i just hate it when ppl put words in my mouth. i just wanted to clarify what i said and just because i'm a newb here doesn't me i'm just going to roll over and play dead at the first prick who gives me ish.

Do what makes you happy, and if people get all "sensative like", simply educate them, and remember, it's not what you say, but HOW you say it. As long as you're a RESPONSIBLE owner, whose ownership, only serves and shows the betterment and postive side to this breed=which it SO needs, then that is what we should be asking, and hoping for.
