Any thoughts? I just got my male done today. Do y'all believe it was really worth it?

Definitely...if your dog ever gets lost and gets found by a half way competant person, he's coming home. If he ever gets stolen, you can prove without a doubt that he's yours if you find him. And, someone can cut a collar and tags off...can't remove a chip very readily, eh?

    DEFINITELY a wise decision.

Yes, it's just one more thing you could have done to protect your pet. If he ever gets lost, you'll be happy you did.

Yeah it is a GREAT idea. Around our area, animal control must scan every dog to see if they are microchipped. Then they must try to contact you.

Yeah...he was done at Banfield...great program from what I read. A TON of security. YOu get two chips instead of one and a great security. If your dog comes in hurt, the first 100 dollars is free and after 500 its 50% off. Your dog can just be taken to the Banfield, In a petsmart, and be returned to me. Its 30 bucks...decent price I suppose. I'm going to get my female done soon.

How much is the total after the fee to send in the paper work and get it registered? Including the office visit, etc?

You might consider having an AVID or HomeAgain chip done with your female. The Banfield program sounds cool, but I've also heard that their chips aren't readable by any scanners but their own. (For example, the average shelter scanner will be able to pick up one of the first two, but not a Banfield chip.) I would ask about that next time you stop by Petsmart.

To respond to your original question, I think its worth it. My dog and one of my two cats are chipped, and its just a little bit of extra protection if they ever get lost.

They install two different ones...one is universal...it is the one that congress is trying to make as the only on out there.

all my cats and pepper are chipped and the nice thing is that if you move you just tell the vet and they punch in your new addy! :)
