Learning..How to?

    So ya'll all know I am new to this whole game. So how does one go about learning about the different bloodlines and what's used for what.. game/show/garbage.. etc etc.. Anyone got any reading suggestions or tidbits?

    well there really ant to much a differnence in the lines besides traits everyone has their fav line i know if ur into show staffs r good blues r good for that not saying other lines arnt but they were breed for show purposes as game lines have stayed toward the game aspects starttons got great books out

    I would say attend as many shows as you possibly can. Join a local club, if you have one. Talk to as many people that are willing to lend an ear and offer advice and read everything you can get your hands on. As mentioned, people pretty much have their favorites, (much like owning/driving the preferred car of your choice), so expect opinions to vary. Going to shows, talking to people and reading everything I could get my hands on was very helpful for me. Tho, certainly, nothing beats seeing things and experiencing aspects about this breed first hand. Have an open mind, then, fill it with knowledge. Agreed Stratton has some great stuff to read; it's a good starting place...

    as all have said, I would also suggest The Complete Game Dog, by Ed and Chris Faron, Old sporting dog journals, and always remember that you'll hear a variety of comments from different folks. Listen, and investigate. Experience is really the best teacher.
