Toy destruction

Ok.. so just curious if anyone else has this problem. I bought a toy today called Air Kong.. its some sort of oblong shaped toy covered in a tennis ball material and connected to a rope.. for throwing and pulling.. So I gives it to Boomer and he goes right to it.. and within 2 minutes he's ripped the rope away from the toy and he's now working on the end that the rope was attached to. They also go through hard plastic toys with no problem... and rope toys they usually unravel them and then end up eating and then crapping out strings for 3 days...

Any ideas?

 

There are some hard rubber toys on the market called Kong I believe that might take him 2 or 3 days to destroy but I would stay away from the stuff with strings etc. attached to them..

 

if you get kongs you want the back ones not the red ones. the red ones fall apart to fast and your dog can choke.

 

I personally dont use them but know of them but didnt know there was a difference in durability between the black and red ones thanks for that helpful info..

 

Honestly, all I can say to you is good luck. I bought that toy you mentioned, a plastic ball that he ripped to shreds, a frisbee that goes in the water and floats..he tore that up while bringing it back to me! Tire toys, stuffed toys, my socks. Try this and see if it'll work for you, I had no luck. Best wishes!

It is very hard to find the un destructable toy for these dogs.

 

The only things not destroyed here are those boomer/jolly balls. They're hard plastic and big enough for them not to be able to get ahold of. Youc an also fill it with sand, water, gravel etc... to make it heavier. The black kongs, boomer balls, Galileo Bone, Fire Hose bumper, interactive food toys, Nylabones, Tire Biter(large) are some of the toys I let my dogs play with. But I also rotate the toys so they don't get bored with them. I give them 3 toys a piece and the others are put up and a couple of hours later take the toys put those ones up and give them another 6 toys.

 

I got the Nylabone for tough chewers that is also a dental bone. It has lasted longer than any toy for me. About a month. She won't touch the rubber tires, or the balls that are hard plastic that you can filll with stuff. I also get the natural cow bones. They don't splinter and last a while.

 

I didnt know there was a difference between red and black kongs. I still have ceecee's kong .. 3 months going on 4.

 

i went from a crf50 dirt bike tire to a full size motorcycle tire on a rope hung off a tree. obviously none have metal tread. any rope toy is only for tugging and put away or else they just unravel it and possibly eat the rope like you stated before. remember that tennis balls not made for dogs have the green hairs that wear down your dogs teeth so be careful with that. i don't use tennis balls because once he cracks one open, he eats the rubber innards. it seems that as bulldogs get bigger, the regular petsmart toys just don't work anymore and i go to home depot or ace more than petsmart. lol. his new toy that he LOVES is the treadmill. he runs on the treadmill and starts scratching the front of the moving belt to try and get it to go. good luck and try EVERYTHING but with caution!

 

i buy a tedy bear once a week and she rips them every 2 days but she has lots of fun.

 

Go-Kart tire & just pretend your a discus thrower.

 

Don't leave tug ropes with a bulldog, I had a pup eat one that I forgot and left with her. Lucky I caught her acting funny, with a distended stomach. My vet is a ole country guy, that let me assist him during her surgery to remove the rope from her guts. That was a costly deal, and painful for her. I like the big Kongs, Uncooked cow knuckles, or leg bones, and tires for my dogs. Mouser

I too throw old dirtbike tires to the dogs, but I do not hang them from trees and let them work it like a springpole. They seem to catch and hold teeth in them, I wouldnt trust any weight being supported by the teeth, if they get stuck in the hard rubber....I always figured it would make for a toothless dog more often than not. The dogs love chewing on them, and so far they are only the second thing I've found which has lasted more than a week. The other was a large tug-boat rope, I use as a bite object on my springpole.
