    LOL

Damn...AT...your a crazy man. And the rest of you, eggin' him on...sheesh.

I probably would've been trying to get one of the dude's numbers...lol...got a thing for a man in uniform. I don't know WHAT I would have done about that woman...well..."woman" though. I've only ever gotten positive comments from cops about my dogs so I really don't know what I'd do.

I am not totally sure but I don't think you would have wanted any numbers. lol. Maybe but I don't think so. I sure didn't want her number that is for sure just got her badge number. Name and badge numbers. They were reluctant enough to give up those. lol

To save ya'll the trouble of your local cops I would suggest not doing it the way I did unless you are real bold and sure of yourself. they did have guns and I legally have mine. If you don't have the papers to do so I wouldn't suggest it. Otherwise I would have probably be sitting in a cell for some time. It wasn't a game and I am probably lucky that I am older, military and was an senor NCO long enough to be real intimidating. That and I am stout as a bull. I reacted instintively with out any thought. That is one thing to note that I did react with out thinking it out or thinking of any consiquences for my behaviour. I may be crazy and slightly stupid for it all. But the bottom line is that we all need to step up to the plate and stand for our rights. Maybe not as bold as I did but with as much heart into it. I would die for my rights and my dogs. But I was also very willing to die for any of you in combat. No questions asked I did my job for 21 years and I knew that there was a real possibility that it may at any time cost me my life. I am not passive. It very well may cost me my life some day. I hope not but it can happen. It could have happened in this issue very easily had I not read them right or knew my rights and the laws of this area. You must know the law and your rights at all times. Life isn't a game and I kid around sometimes too much but I don't let things get me down. I smile even when I am mad and I can look mad even if I am not. Maybe I don't value my life as much as I should but it is how I am and have been all my life. I never was one to get bullied. Bullies always got the worst in me. The poll on here is more of a feeler for me to see on average how many would or at least think they would have handled it the same as me. It is a check on weither or not I did the right thing. I tried to make it fun to do and not so serious. However it was a very serious matter. I shouldn't have boasted about it but I am very proud of it and I feel on top of the world at the moment for doing so. The high of it will wear off. I normally maintain controll at all times even under great stress. Stress is what I live on. it brings out the soldier in me. I shine under crappy situations. I pray that no one gets hurt trying to do what I did. God was watching over me and protected every one here. So for all that didn't like my way of handling this issue please forgive me. For those that did thanks.

See...I guess a difference for me is that I've got family/family friends that are cops. I don't have a sour taste in my mouth for them, so I generally don't have the same perspective as some others might.

In my experience, a lot of folks become cops becuase they think they are going to change the world. Once they realize that's not the case, those that stick around just end up enjoying the power, and they get sick of people's bullshit. I generally would play the "let them THINK they are in control" game...because when it comes down to it, IF push came to shove, it's what happens in the court room that matters. As long as you conduct yourself in a respectful manner, I would think you'd have a much easier battle in the court room.

Unfortunately, cops, firefighters, the likes are all family...piss one off and your screwed...so I generally wouldn't step into that territory unless it was absolutely called for...as in, IF in this example, the woman actually pulled her gun out without provocation from the dog. I'd go ballistic...I'm a non-confrontational person to a fault but if I feel my dogs are in danger I become a completely different person.

JCleve86- I understand. One must know the laws and have those in authority as friends. I learned to quote rules and regulations in the army. So knowing laws, rules and regulations is one of my priorities. I quoted the laws and rules of ingagement according to Arkansas and my local laws. The difference in a crime sciene and an invite to a nutral non hostile place for a report to be made. I had to take control before she pulled that gun fully out. I know she was in that direction. I am not sure why and it doesn't really matter to me. I wasn't going to let her shoot three puppies and scare the living hell out of a 17 year old kid. Or the guest at my farm. I have friends and relatives that are police officers too. I know the level of power some feel they have to do as they please and if I had not known the laws and rules it would have been a very bad situation. I don't know if she just hates dogs or the breeds I have. Hounds, Shar-Pei and APBT. I didn't have time to figure it all out just knew I had to establish control at that point. She clearly didn't have any such control and her trainee's didn't have the knowledge to maintain control they were going to do and go the route of the SGT not by what they felt was right or proper. I did what I had to and the Cheif and Major backed me up. I had to make a quick dissision as to how to handle it. I chose my natural method to do the role of the Senior NCO that I was in the Army. It is what I know to do. State facts, rules, regulations and law. And Make them abide by them. And behaive in a professional manner on my land. I didn't know what else I could have done. Anything else would have been questionable to me and foriegn to me. I had to go witht he Natural Attila at that time. The fear of loss of my dogs and personell took over and drove me to my path.

I will tell him hello for you. It is best to keep them on a leash so you have a better foot to fight with but I completely understand your point she is small.

    Fight for your rights.

I think you are great, Attila. I didn't answer the poll because it would be a toss-up I think between standing up for my rights or getting so infuriated that I spazzed out...I've acted both ways in the past.
I don't know. I don't like people who abuse their authority. They should be removed from authority if they cannot handle it. Sounds like she couldn't. She needs to be removed from the force if she is going around threatening to shoot people' pets. She is lucky she is not dead. I'm glad your plan for her is public humiliation. She deserves it.

Hey....can I change my vote? I thought the first choice was "Give my life for my dogs with MY finger on the trigger" not "your finger". That's different. I didn't know what to put since I don't own a gun.:o But that changes everything. (I was wondering how so many of y'all were gonna go down shootin [IMG]

I would let you. Some one will tell me how to change it. As it even tells me that I already voted. Is there a way I can change your vote or grant you permission to do so? I will give you one of my guns to go down shooten with. Lord knows I have enough to spare.

LOL me also, I assume however if my finger is on the trigger, theirs is too. I dont know honestly if I would be able to control myself or not, I dont like being in a bad position, multiple guns pointed at me pointblank is what I would consider a bad position. I'd try to end it before I put myself in that position. One things for sure, I would give my life for my dogs. However, I dont know if I would classify it under the first choice, as I wouldnt just stand there doing nothing.....however, I would hope I have more self-control than to "spaz out like a crackhead and loose control". I've had guns pointed at me before, and normally you need to realize when they already have you locked in, theres not much point in continuing to fight. It takes alot less time to simply squeeze that trigger 1/8'' than it does to move your hand, bring up your weapon, flip the safety, aim, and fire. You need to keep your wits about you in this position, and realize then is not the time to fight---normally. This is a special situation however, and I hope I never have to find out what I would do. The only certainty, is I wouldnt do nothing. You cant predict what your demeanor will be until you've been in that position, now matter how sure you are your able to keep your cool.

We didn't draw on each other just unsnap holsters. It was contained and controlled. Yes it was a bit stressful. However I have been there before only this time I didn't shoot. Civilian life isn't as fun as military in combat. In Garison it is a little like civilian crap but not quite. You're right one never knows what they would do. I choose the most caustic and direct route. Many people fear death. But what is death but a opening of a door into the life ever after. Your destination will be the same no matter how you go out. A person desides that route in their daily walk. Just be cool as a cucumber and you'll be fine. Live or die you stand for your rights. Better to die standing for what you believe in than to squat and cowar with some hope they will take pitty on you fry that action. I would never take pitty on a coward. Never have never will. It is just a way of life for me. Others see it differently and they can live with that. I can't.

I would have been pissed but I don't know how I would have handled it. I have the two wee ones and that shifts everything into a whole new perspective. I wouldn't die for any animal because I have kids who need me, otherwise, who knows?

I actually have had a dog taken before in NM. It was a bad scene and I had kids and other things to worry about, so I didn't put up a fight because I knew that I could go down to the shelter and bail him out. It was so stupid, they came to my place for an unrelated reason, my dobe Schindler was barking, I put him in the back room, but they still called animal control, I don't know why, Schindler always listened and they didn't even ask me to move him to a kennel or anything, the guy just showed up. I remember that I instructed Schindler to go into the tiny, little wire cage they hauled him off in ( he couldn't even stand in it and they hauled him away on a flat bed ) and when I said his name, " Schindler " one of the cops mocked, " Oh! his name is Schindler!?" The guy was obviously uneducated and didn't know who Schindler really was. Dumb a$$ They were such pricks. After everything cooled down I got my dog back, I complained and they got into trouble but I don't know what kind, probably just a verbal threat or something little like that. The animal control guy didn't even know what was going on, he thought it was stupid too. I had 4 other dogs in kennels and they didn't care about them. If something like that happened today I would handle it differently.

Thanks for keeping us posted AM! We're happy to hear she is getting her just deserts.

Ah thanks for pointing out that it is Attila's finger on the trigger, Miakoda...that puts a whole new cast on the whole story. I'd trust you anywhere Attila...
And you are right about death is a door...we are all gonna go through it. I hope and pray that I can go out with my head up. I've managed to hold it up my whole life so far...58 years. I'd fight for my dog...
Fortunately, I have never been in a postion where a cop did to me what they did to you. I was threatened with arrest once but I told the cops I was wrong in that case(I was, too, and they were polite, although I did yell at one for stepping in my flower bed) and it was up to their consciences whether they wanted to haul me off or not.
They let me go inside my house and go to bed. I told 'em to arrest me and get it over with or let me go and they asked me what they should do. I told them I was wrong, it was their choice...(Of course I was younger and better looking then...lol...cops are human too...)
