Oh, I thought the grey one was a bad rep. What do I know? I think I have only given them once or twice and forget the system exists for the most part.

That is kinda childish, but you know it's the internet, any yahoo who can semi-type can get on here and say almost anything. In some ways that is good, in other ways it leads to huge battles. Things have been pretty quiet and I like it quiet here. There is so much good info and advice on dogs....
You have my sympathy for the anonymous attack. why don't they pm ya if they wanna fight or discuss things.

I have read every post in this thread and I must say that it has been handled well and alot of good points made. I agree that if a person does leave bad or good rep. points they should have to leave their name also. I also agree what diff. does it make because most people that have negative things to say about someone say it to everyone but that person! This site is about the breed and helping new comers understand the breed and luckily we have alot of different opinions here but that doesn`t mean that one persons opinion is wrong because someone dis agrees with it. Anyway like I said I like the way this thread was handled nothing wrong with good debate.

 

It is very childish to give bad rep points. Why people just can't PM someone if they dislike what someone said is beyond me. I'm still kinda newbie so I don't even care about rep points. I'm here to learn from you all.

 

The system was designed for good rep points, as well as bad points. If someone is posting mis-information, you may give that post bad reps if its a serious problem. If someone posts good info, give it good rep points. For example, when a say, flea problem question comes on the board. If someone says "dip the dog in burnt motor oil", that would warrant bad rep to some people. If someone responded with good info about Frontline, Advantage, etc you could give them good reps. I'm sure your seeing what I'm trying to say....the system was designed more for factual basis I believe, than varying opinions.

Well, the site has thought of this as well. When that yahoo looking to start fights, or pass on mis-info on the board gets a bad reputation, many peoples control panels (unless adjusted after sign-in) do not even show these posts. Once a member goes under -1 reputation (default) there posts do not show up to those who have not knowingly changed their cp to show these posts.

Grey is negative.. Everyone starts with 10 positive rep points from the moment they sign in last I checked.

If this is true (I havent looked at your profile, or your reps to check it yet) This is mis-use of the system, and if that is the reason they left you negative points-they shouldnt have. One bad rep point wont kill anyone, like I said, everyone starts well positive as it is. You need to work to become negative! With that said, if someone just has a problem with you, they can't just leave you 15 bad comments in a row...the system makes you "spread reputation around before giving it to ***** again" to avoid such problems.

 

I have seen people come on here and post rude things and start battles. thats what I was posting on. I should have made it more clear but sometimes what I'm thinking doesnt always get typed. Lol

I Have A Couple Of Rep Points That Are Positive Comments...like "great Post" Or Whatever....but The Color Next To It Is Grey...which I Believe Is Negative...right? Hmm.....oh Well. Im Not Here To Please Anyone...only To Expand My Knowledge And Hopefully Learn Better Ways Of Doin The Dog Thang.

Ah, I understand what you mean. I've seen that on a few occasions also, although its been awhile. I do believe thats when the positive rep points come from someone with a negative rep. and it may be neutral? I really dont know anymore, this is a question best suited for Shon or Marty. I'll pass the thread onto them, and hopefully they will be able to answer you. Good question

 

Well I always taught if I didn't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all so I don't leave negative rep points but if I did I wouldn't be a coward about it.

 

I personally always leave my name, but dont hand out negative points. I always try to take it to PM if someone makes me mad, which is not often. I agree it is childish to leave negative rep with no name.

On a now defunct board I was on we had a system like this except we gave "cookies". Like yours they were supposed to mean something but everyone abused it. I gave cookies to just about everyone and got them for no reason. I had around 600 & no way in hell did I say that many "cookie-able" things. A few people began to really abuse the system & gather their friends to take cookies away from certain people, you could only do one action to each person per hour so it had more impact fi you got several people to do it. You could give them away forever but only one per hour to each person. Personally I took away maybe 10 in the year or so I was on the board. Maybe a little more. These people ended up with negative cookies in the hundreds & it caused all sorts of hurt feelings & nastiness. It got REALLY childish & ended up being a huge fiasco & that is the reason I don't use them here.

As long as people don't abuse it ( and I assume it doesn't go on here like that) it can be a good thing. I don't always put much stock in it and I also don't post counts. I learned years ago that there are people who talk alot but say little & people who talk little but speak volumes. I look to them.

 

I think if people are so wrapped up in "stealing other peoples cookies" that they would get together in groups and plot to "steal the cookies" every hour, they would have too much time on their hands, and their intrests arent in the site. They should of been banned, and a phonecall should of been made to their mothers letting them know their highschool daughters were using the schools computers to "steal cookies". How absurd...LOL

 

Well, basically the points dont matter to me, I was simply trying to do 1 or 2 things,

1. Call the curr to the forfront for what they are,
2. Maybe us regulars here can begin to show half the heart that this breed has and if we have something to say, say it to the person's face!!

Backstabing makes me puke! Sometimes, I hate to admit it, that is the hardest thing for me to go to church with, as many do the same thing as here. One person actually gave brownie points toa member because they told them "Rednecks"(southern people) where to go. How many of those who hate southerners have dogs whos lines were produced from the south? What sense does this make.

Myself, I am here to either learn, and I have learned, especially about what the laws are trying to do to the dogs I have loved for so long, and I didnt even know the difference between AR and the humane society!! I am also here to try and share the things that I know that work, and develop friends, as I am not a man who gets out much. I hate trouble. Now, if I was to become a detriment to this site I will leave in a heartbeat. But all should know this, I will forever stand first and formost for Jesus Christ, and will never back down from any attacks upon He or me for my beliefs, and if you dont watch out, I am a preacher by nature, that means when it comes on me, I cannot help it! It just flows out. I would rather take flack here on this rock called Earth for it, than stand before Him and He deny me in front of the Father!
