Trying to decide what color Bodacious really is...

I am usually good with colors but not with her.

It doesn't help that she has a black muzzle and is overall darker when looking at her from the front; it is also hard to get her true color in the pictures. So here are some of the better ones that show her color pretty well
She is ADBA and UKC registered.

According to UKC colors she is either a mahgany brindle which I am leaning towards or a red brindle.

*Also ADBA does not accept Mahongany so what would she be with them. Yes, I know ADBA has a color cgart to help but none of them are her color on it LOL so it doesn't help. They put fawn brindle on her ADBA papers and that is definately wrong so I am getting them fixed.

If you need to see more picts of her let me know. These are of her at various ages where you can see her color pretty well. It is hard to get good enough lightling to show the color well

    Thanks in advance :)

Thanks, I have all the color links too from adba and I even looked at the AKC ones even though she isn't an AKC dog ... she is definately not black brindle. Her mama is a black brindle though. That is why I said the picts are very deceiving of her, She has a black face which I think makes her appear darker but definately not black as her main color

These dogs are much closer in coloring to what Bodacious Looks like looks like:

Look under red and mahogany brindle

Then I have to decide what to call it under ADBA though if I go with the mahagany on her UKC papers as they don't have that as a color. see the bottom of the ADBA reg form for colors

I may just go with red brindle to save the aggrivation LOL

here is her mama a black brindle:

Thanks in advance for the help

  4. I would say black or red brindle. See more black but not like the mother, and I dont know to me, if I see enough red/tone to be red brindle.

But I will say this, I am sure that if you picked either one, it wouldn't be that questionable.

Sure is a pretty little thing though!

I don't really thing red brindle would be accurate. IMO she's more of a brown brindle or black brindle.

  6. Ya, I am thinking the same, but towards black.

looks like a black brindle to me as well.
It just looks like it has more of the "tiger striping"as some people call it than the mother has-
I would say black brindle and doubt that it would be questionable

after looking at the pics again I would DEFINATELY say black brindle
Like I said I thing it just has more of the brown going through it that the mother does

I would call that red brindle black mask. She is a good looking pup no matter what. Her mother dang that is a fine looking dog. Beautiful.

Not Black brindle IMO because the other color on her is more prodominat and is the underlying color, not the black. I wish I could get better picts. I'll try to get some today and repost

LOL I better call her something soon or she won't be ready to show in April because I still be picking colors

In the meantime maybe this will help...her color is richer looking than this dog who is listed on the ADBA site as Dark Fawn Brindle That is the absolute closest they have listed to what she looks like. They have no red brindle black nose dogs shown

Thanks everyone for being patient with me :) I'm a bit fanatical when it comes to the pups

I didn't say black nose silly. Black mask. lol Geesh She looks allot like Gretchen or Dixie but with a black mask. Both those dogs have black noses as well. your pup sure looks darker than fawn though could be the picture or the lighting contrast. But I keep getting stuck looking at the Dam's picture. Amazing looking dog. Like a work of art.

I still think red brindle though. Just lighter red than some.

She's same colour as my dog, i would call it Dark Fawn Brindle and depending if its summer or not his hair is a little more lighter or dark.

The mom of your dog is very close to Bongo's (my dog) mom colour, but his father was buckskin so there were buckskin/fawn and brindle pups, some of them with white marks.

    I love brindle! <3

I agree. IMO her brindling looks like that of the first dog, which is labled by the ADBA as a black brindle.

its definately just a plain old black brindle - i don't see where all the confusion is.
nothing about the dog says red brindle
