why are you looking for papers? i notice he has his jewels, are you planning on breeding him? i hope not, cause the pups will end up in the same situation your dog did. please get him fixed. nice dog by the way, he looks real healthy and well taken care of. IMO,dont worry about his papers, love him the same the only good papers are is to make money peddling pups.

ps if im off base, forgive me. a lot of folks that come here trying to find a way to get papers on a dog is so they can sell the pups to get rich lol. i hope that isnt you.

  4. At some point I will breed him but unless I know what he is I wont.
ps. I'm not interested in being a breeder.

there is really no way of knowing,,even with papers sometimes,,,what does the owner say he is?

  6. The owner and I have never spoken. He handed Cinco off to a woman who had him in a house with an older larger Blue Male. Cinco was being attacted by the older male and he has a scar on his nose as a result. At the time I was about to purchse a Blue female but a friend begged me to adopt Cinco. The woman promised to forward his papers but never did.

Catcher is right. Without papers from a responsible, reputable breeder you have absolutely no way of determining if your dog is purebred or not.

Regardless, being purebred and having "pretty" papers does not make a dog breeding-quality. The sheer number of pit bulls already in existance is overwhelming. Every year thousands are euthanized in shelters across the nation. That is thousands of purebred, sound, and healthy American Pit Bull Terriers (And many a blue dog, I might add). Even "just one litter" adds so much to the problem. Unless your dog is, and has proved, to be a worthy example of the breed, I would advise you against breeding him.

Please read the following sites for more information:

You also seem to be hooked up on the color blue. Color is not everything, and blue pit bulls are literally a dime-a-dozen. Please read up on what makes a responsible breeder.

My best advice is to love him like the pet he is. Perhaps get involved in some weight pull or conformation classes (Even without papers, the UKC & ADBA have ILP programs in which altered animals can compete in).

    ditto........

  9. I'd be very happy if folks would stick to the question at hand. I'm aware of the breed and its issues, hence, my decision to adopt him. So please keep the lectures to yourselves.

i don't think anyone is lecturing you....i think what people are doing is giving you really good advice...

  12. You can get him CKC registered if ya want... but that dosnt mean anything, except its name is on a piece of paper.... Dont get you panties in a bunch... everyone just dosnt want you to breed a rescue dog... rescues are rescued to be pets.... Ya hes a gorgeous animal, but honestly, that dosnt mean sh*t...

and what up with the picture of him chewin on his wanker??!! jeez dude.... yuck!

There is absolutely no way to prove his heritage without him coming from a reputible source and with papers. I wouldn't trust an owner who was just dumping a dog to be honest about anything.

    He is a cute dog.

Just curious though as to what makes you think he is breeding quality. Even with papers that wouldn't prove him to be worthy

I'm sure he is however a great pet

Honestly, you also will not find any reputible breeder willing to use a stud who is unpapered.

I'm glad you took the time to resvue him so he didn't end up in a shelter or bad sitaution

    Good luck with your dog

if you don't know how to go about getting papers than you have noclus about breeding. Leave it to the professionals. Papers is not a reason to breed.

  16. if you are well aware of the issues this breed is facing, why would you say you were going to breed a rescue dog? look it really appears as though you are caught up in the "blue dog fad" i'm not saying you are, i'm just telling you that is how it appears to people who have read your posts. most everyone here is dedicated to the preservation of the APBT in it's purest form from the origins it came from. hence some of the advice handed out to you. advice....not lecture.

to the question you posed......it has been answered several times. there is absolutely no way to tell. sorry we can't be more help than that.

there ain't no way of knowing what he is unless you get the original papers from the owner or you can get in touch with the breeder and see if he can get them for you some way.and on the breeding issue i have a feeling no matter what anyone tells you, you will peddle him around some neighboor hood or find some way to start breeding him to make ''big bucks'' off of the pups and get your ''kennel'' off the ground.but for what it is worth i am gonna tell you the right thing to do.neuter the dog and keep it as a pet and if thats not what your looking for neuter him and adopt him out to someone who wants that.then do some research and try and get hands on experince with real APBT's wich will take you many many years then maybe you can try and have one good litter from dogs that are worthy to be bred.but keep in mind before you ever make a breeding you be ready to keep each and every one of them dogs, even if you sell them or give them to other people and 9 years from then they don't want it anymore.you always take the animal back.now take the advice for what you think it is worth.

  18. Man you folks are blowing me with your intrusive comments as to what my intentions may or maynot be. This isnt my first dog or my first pit. As mentioned before, I'm aware of the breed's problems. Whether I choose to breed Cinco or not is my decision and right as his owner, so enough already.

  19. I dont recall asking for anyone's advice on this matter, do you?

No need to get defensive when it looks like you're considering making a damn stupid decision.
