Colby pits??

Discussion in 'APBT Bloodlines' started by Friskycatz, Feb 24, 2007.

  1. Thanks for that info, i also read that not to allow the pit to be alone with a dog after they hit a year old, even when a puppy it should be supervised, which isn't a problemm there i have a kennel for both. Please correct me however if i'm wrong.

GSD, so, so true. My dad has a beautiful APBT, unsure of lines. BUT, all sorts of people have come up to him and have said "that must be a Colby pit" because of his color and his ears:p Here are some pics:

  11. That may be true i know the mom and dad had papers but the pup came with none. I'm sure i could get thge papers if i asked. I have a american bulldog that belongs to me and have researched that breed, which brings up one of the questions i have, do i train like you do the AM BULL??

well basic training is pretty much the same as with any dog.lots of paitence, praise and treats and when needed disipline.with these dogs don't be affraid to swat em on the butt when they do something real bad.usually one or 2 swats is all it takes and they don't do it again.but do keep in mind not only are they really really smart but also very active dogs.so not only do you have to keep their mind busy with diffrent things but you have let them play and be active.otherwise they can get bored and chew or devlop other destructive behaviors just as with any other real smart dog.there are diffrences between the 2 dogs and mainly it is one was bred for guarding and farm work and the other for dogfighting.so you have to use common sense.like never ever trust your dog not to fight even if he never fights in his life always expect that he will.invest in a breaking stick learn how to use it and always carry it on you when you are out and about with him because you just never know if he might decide to fight thats what he was bred for.how you use a breaking stick is you grab your dog by the scruff of the neck pull up the loose skin as tight as you can put the stick in the back of his mouth or in the middle place inbetween the teeth and twist it pops the jaw open and as it opens pull him off using the scruff of the neck.this is the quickest most effective way to break up a dog fight.what should you expect out of the pup in the next few weeks not much just usual puppy things.what you need to do is work on house training, getting him used to a leash and collar, riding in the car, bond with him and get his shots and such in order.then after he masters house training and walking on a leash, then start with your basic manners and the rules of the house.puppy stages are pretty much the same as with any pup except at around 6 months expect your dog to turn on at anytime if he has not already done so.and by turn on i mean he will want to start fighting with other dogs.i hope this anwsered your questions but if you have anymore or don't quite understand something just ask and you will recive.

well i never did breed to them because i keep mine pure boudreaux thats what i always liked.for a while his daughter, grandson and another indvidual were caring for them out at his farm but it became to much for them.so right now i am caring for the animals out at my place.
