well IMO OFRn is thrown around alot with bybs. OFRn is a legitimate strain of dogs. Lar-san Is built on this. Heck one of the "gatekeepers" of the strain posts on this thread. Real OFRN is an authentic gameline.

  9. Uh ok thanks, I was just tryin to figure out what she was asking
But the whole "big head" thing wasnt even a issue until recently so I cant imagine it applying to the old skool ones. The old game men didnt boast about size....most where small scrappy lil guys.

I haven't read this whole thread, just the opening post but.......... No one considers OFRN dogs "mutts". The real ones are great dogs. Its just that the blood isn't real widespread. REAL OFRN blood is really tough to come by. So MOST people saying they have it and letting it go are just using the name to get a sale.

the reason i was asking this is because of another thread and what it said here it is

Those are not APBTs and not pure. Why do you need a big fat head? It doesnt do anything for show weight pull or um,,,,,,,,my sports...... Good luck on this search. Quote:

    thats why i was curious!

Before big blue mutts, the fad was big red/red dogue de bourdeux looking dogs. Alot of the good OFRN blood, was known for being on the larger side, and good looking dogs. As a result, much of the original stock for these crossbred red/rednose monsters were of OFRN strains.

There is about as much similarity between a well-bred OFRN, and one of these 120 lb. "freak monsters" as there is between a poodle and a great dane.

The first oversized "pit bulls" I ever saw were red/red nosed dogs often touted as "OFRN." These were/are the dogs that are 100+ lbs & you can find them advertised out the whazoo in DogFancy magazine. However, these dogs have been outcrossed to breeds such as the Doge de Bourdeaux & consists of your Camelot, Eddington, Peterson, etc. lines.

Maybe that is why they say that.

    Well said!

so your true OFRN arent mutts its just the other fad that has been bred into them to make them that away in the last few yrs okay cause i had a reg. OFRN and he was like 55lbs and i thought he looked exceptionally well and never thought as him a mutt. okay anyways thanks for the replies

You can do a quick lil search and see some overdone OFRN. The main thing is that OFRN covers a number of different breeder strains and lines. Hemphill, Norrod, Lightners, Wilders, Ironline, Ishikawa, Clouse..etc.

Alot of showlines stem from OFRN and we all know what a good showline will eventually get turned into.

But really there are some serious OFRN game lines around and I like seein people usin the real deal for crosses to see what they can get. Norrod's can bring some heat if used right.

True OFRN are not mutts. Getting your hands on True any line, keeping it true, and being true to it is key.

Every line should be with in the standard. The standard has wide enough range that extending it is just plain bad breeding.
If you want a 70 pound dog get a larger breed, If you want 120 get a bull mastiff, want 200 get a mastiff. Want 10 get a boston terrier between that and APBT get a Patter Dale. It is just that simple.

Grossly out of standard is a mutt. Or the very least a very poor bred example of a breed. That goes with any breed.

I knew a couple guys back in the day that had big red/red nose dogs. But there is a big difference between them and an OFRN. OFRN's are athletic looking and smaller than those big reds, we called them Hog Dogs, because they were fat like hogs.
