  8. In real life 3 guys are a real problem. Maybe you hit only two times, once with the head on the ground and once in the hospital your eyes again open. Reality, internet and movies are 3 differend things. If I can I walk away, Only if I really have no other chance I change in a heartbeat my mind. Then is war. But I think it the best one is to be kept away from these silly people if it is possible .So I think he did the right thing, he act smart.

When people can't argue the message, they attack the messenger. At least you had the balls to call him on it.

WHATS UP PEOPLE,i LIVE IN ALABAMA to and they have been selling all kinds of dogs here at flea markets,I know for a fact pitbulls have been sold for over 20 years prices range from $75 to $150 without papers and $200 to $4oo sometimes more for registered pups.I've talked to some and some are good folks with good dogs, they just didn't understand the problem they were helping create. But there not called flea markets here its called TRADEDAY

OK I might get bashed for this but ... I don't see the problem selling at trade day so long as you are selective in who you sell to.

For example, which is better? The one who sells out of their house & sells to anyone w/ the money or the one who sells at a trade day & is very choosy who they sell to & refuses to sell to unworthy buyers? I'd say the latter is better than the former.

To me it's not where you sell, but what you sell & to whom.

Plus, in this day & age it is not safe to let folks come to your house & it is a hassel to meet folks in town. So if a breeder wants to sell at trade day, I could care less so long as they're breeding good stock & selling to the right people.

    JMHO ...

But, how can you be sure you are selling to the right people? AND how is that ANY different than selling them out of the back of a pick up at Walmart?? I don't think "the right people" are going to be going to flea markets looking for dogs to buy IMO.

You can be sure they are the right ppl the same way you do by evaluating them at your home - you look at how they handle themselves, how they handle their kids, engage them in a conversation to evaluate their knowledge & level of experince in the breed in the breed & so forth. I wouldn't think it would be hard. Most ppl will give themselves away by just the way they talk.

I do not know if you have done any dog business lately cheeky, but most transactions concerning pitties are done in parking lots, be it the irresponsible breeders selling pups out of a box at Wally World or the experinced fancier meeting a buyer at the gas station.

It is just simply too dangerous in this day in age to be letting ppl come to your house. Anything could occur from theft to murder.

As for who goes to trade days, you never know. GR.CH. Virgil's owners went there. I go there. And the reason I go is b/c I DO know that GR.CH. Virgil was picked up at a trade day. Yeah, you might run across 500 junk dogs, but there is always a chance you could luck up & run across a well-bred dog.

Plus, a lot of dog ppl go there to look for other items or just to do something on a nice day. They might not be looking for a dog, but they will eventually end up in the dog yard b/c as we all know doggers can't resist looking at pit bulls! :p

Wow, I would hope that ensuring your dogs were in the right hands would entail a LOT more than just observing a person and a short conversation.

ahhh, I see you added to your post.

I still don't see that as being near enough. People have been known to talk a good game & then let you down. I guess that is why I don't breed dogs. I don't trust no one. Especially with one of MY dogs.

I guess I just don't get it & probably NEVER will. There is post after post on this board to "close the circle", how can you do that selling dogs at a flea market??

NOT suggesting at all that that is what you do ABK, I don't even know if you breed.

Yea, I add to my posts a lot sometimes. I think it is right the first time, then when I read it, I think of other things to add. I rarely get it right the first time! :p

Yes, it can be hard putting your dogs in the right hands & yes, some ppl will talk a good game & let you down. But that is all part of the dog game.

The only way you can avoid it is do like you are cheeky & don't breed anything b/c if you stay in the bred long enough, you WILL get burned, no matter how careful you are. That's just part of it.

But back to what we were discussing - I would rather a responsible breeder sell good stock to good folks at a trade day than have an irresponsble breeder sell to just whomever out of his home. I will say it again:

It's not WHERE you are selling, it is WHAT you are selling & to WHOM.

THAT is what is important, at least to me anyway.

I can certainly agree with that! ;)

I forgot - as for closing that circle, that is simple. Either do not breed or keep the breed to those who are responsible enough to own it. And that again has nothing to do w/ where one gets a dog, but to whom the dog was sold.

If you sell any jerkwad a pup out of your home, that is NOT closing the circle. But if you sell a responsible dog person a pup at a trade day & you KNOW he is going to do the pup right, that is keeping the pup w/in the circle, at least IMO, b/c the pup went to a experinced pit bull fancier, not some outsider.

And it is entirely possible that Flea Markets & Trade days are differnet in other places than they ones I have been to here in Texas. Here they are a haven for BYB's & "doodle" peddlers. Disease runs rampant at these things. I have known 3 people who purchased dogs at a flea market in the DFW area & all 3 puppies came down with parvo. It is in the ground & people spread it from one booth to the next on their shoes & on their hands when they handle sick puppies. there are no controls in place to keep the spread of disease down. All a person has to do is pay their booth rental fee & they can sell their sick & dying puppies all day long. It could be different in other states. I dunno.

Could be. I have been to some where some of the dogs were obviously either sick or not well kept, but then I could go to another trade day in another city & the pups are fat & sassy & they will not allow the sale of any ill or unkept animal. Some trade day sites even require that the seller have vet certificates for their pups or make them offer a 36 hour health guarantee on any animal sold.
