ok i know tabs is basically jeep..what traits do they bring to the table?and how do you feel about redboy/tabs..

Tab is a Jeep/RB cross. Tab back to Redboy in essence gives you a 3/4 RB 1/4 Jeep, basically. just depends on what Tab dog you use and what RB dog you use.

    ck out "Man"....

Man has more Rascal in him than Red Boy though, don't he? Cause he's doublebred Caldwell's Dragon and Dragon is about 34% Rascal and only 12.5% Red Boy.

Anyway, as Fifty explained, do you mean jeep/redboy (50/50 like Tab) or redboy/jeep (75/25 like the offspring of Tab bred to a RB bitch) ... ?

Either way I love, love, love jeep/redboy dogs. Although, I haven't had any personal experience with any real bulldogs so I guess I'm just being biased, lol. My favorite dog from my mentor is jeep/redboy (about 56/44) and after doing some studying, I've found that the cross usually is the total package. Exceptional mouth, wind, deep game, and ability to produce, according to people who've owned them.

Best blood there is!!:D Okay,Okay, maybe I am A little biased too,but just look at my baby.In reality though it would take knowing more than one dog of particular blood to form an honest opinion. All I can say is Chloe's breeder had only jeep/redboy on her yard(this is all her grandpa had before her). And all I really noticed from personall observation was that the dogs tended to be a little more offstandish with people than your typical bulldogs. But I dont know if this is anything to do with blood or just her particular dogs.As far as my experience with my dog,She is very headstrong and thinks she should be boss of everything. We are currently working on N.I.L.I.F. with her and its working really well.Of course she is very D.A..I have also been told that redboy was not a smart dog,so maybe that might be of some concern.Chloe is smart though and very easy to train as far as basic commands.Im not sure how tall she is,but she has never weighed more than 43lbs.Sorry I dont have anymore info about other dogs of this blood, but,im still learning too.So I hope this post gets alot of responses.

I had lost faith in Jeep/Redboy dogs, because of the trend that has grossly ruined this line. Too many people breeding for papers, and breeding substandard dogs because they were 5x's "Tab" or any other famous descendant of Jeep who never competed, but were bred out the wazoo because of good publicity, and a strong sales pitch because of the pedigree.

Jeep/Redboy is a solid cross, and has given me some DAMN fine bulldogs. The deciding factor in these breedings, is acquiring dogs off stock worked as you expect the offspring to be, and nothing less because "they might produce" or "that much Tab, they are bound to look and act like him". Tell me, did any of these people see Tab? Absolutely nothing wrong with Tab, but you see so much of it that is junk, and not worth feeding because so many people bought into the hype and were more than willing to throw a few stacks on a pretty dog, that was bred decent, and had good promoters.

If your in the business of showing off pedigrees, and selling pups, this is a good line for you. If you expect good dogs, buy off good dogs, not good dogs 15x's in the 5th and little noteworthy since then imo.

honestly, Ive never even calculated it. to me a dog is just a dog till he proves otherwise. if it wont stay out in the woods for you on a stormy night, what difference does it make what "1.74%" of so-and-so he got in his blood?
I need to get with Shon. he is the master ped percentage calculator. matter of fact, I think he already has Man's ped percentages broke down. on the otherhand, YES, Man does have a good deal of Rascal blood. thank god- or I might feel like rock...

    her you go watcher,
To help you figure the percentage of blood of a particular ancestor in your dog's pedigree use the chart and the steps below. Just remember that the percentage of blood is only an approximation of the inheritance a particular ancestor gave to your dog.
    GENERATION RELATIONSHIP PERCENTAGE
    1st Generation
    2nd Generation
    3rd Generation
    4th Generation
    5th Generation
    6th Generation
    7th Generation Parents
    Grand Parents
    Great (G) Grand Parents
    GG Grand Parents
    GGG Grand Parents
    GGGG Grand Parents
    GGGGG Grand Parents 50%
    25%
    12.5%
    6.25%
    3.125%
    1.5625%
    0.78125%

Step 1 - Determine the relationship between your dog and the targeted ancestor.

Step 2 - Find that relationship on the chart to determine the approximate percentage of blood that ancestor contributed to your dog.

Step 3 - If, as in many pedigrees, the targeted ancestor appears more than once in your dog's pedigree, repeat steps 1 and 2 for each occurrence and add the amounts together.

Example: If the dog Appears Once on the Parents (First Generation = 50%) and Twice on the Great Grandparents (Third Generation = 12.5% * 2 = 25%), then the dog is 75% linebred.

Percentage of blood can be used to help determine when two dog's would be a good cross, but it is only one tool out of many. Beware of the breeder who uses it as the only tool. Just because two dogs have a high percentage of a valuable ancestor doesn't mean they should be bred together, particularly if they have common faults.

    First Second Third Fourth
Parents (50%) Grand Parents (25%) GGrand Parents (12.5%) GGGrand Parents (6.25%)
    GGGrand Parents (6.25%)

Oh, I agree, I was just commenting on the rascal blood being more prominant than red boy since this thread is about jeep/redboy dogs. ;)

Damn, I wish I had some programs to break down the math for me! A lot of peds are pretty easy but some make my head spin! I just have my hands, a piece of paper, a pencil, and a calculator, lol. So there is a fairly good chance I'm off in my results, but, eh, whatever.

Anyway, I completely agree with you Rock, although it certainly doesn't just apply to jeep/redboy dogs. It's a shame. But yeah, papers are only useful when deciding on a good breeding.

actually the thread is about "tab bloodlines" so, naturally I took the oportunity to throw in my plug.

loose the headache of the paper, pencil and the calculator and spend more time with the dogs hands on. everything will be just fine. im not sure what it is exactly that you are calculating or calculating for? General puposes? or do you have a different agenda?

its just a scientific approach to adding dna to a gene pool..verses many years of hands on experience..but watcher is right let the dogs be dogs..believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.

Heh, oops. I suppose you're right there. My bad lol.

I just find it interesting to break down some of the best performers and producers to see, overall, what lines are working best out there. I'm just doing a lot of studying on the dogs in general so I know as much as I can before I get hands on experience, which isn't a option at this time. In 9 months it will be though. :D I can't wait.

well acoourding to Shon's figures, Man is only 4.83513% Tab so my plug is far fetched anyhow. ;)
