Jeep - you were probably right in not trying to call in and properly inform those folks. Who knows how it would've been concieved, edited, or whatever so it was better for the radio show.

    I subscribe to Newsweek.

On their site (www.newsweek.com) There's a story "Hot Dog" on their frontpage.

Here's a link to the article that was in their mag & on the site:

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19836601/site/newsweek/

You can only imagine the feedback they're getting on their site. The article defenitely isn't the best one I've ever read, with all the talk of bait dogs, rape boxes, etc.

Vick might as well not attend court. He's already guilty in the corut of public opinion. I'm just wondering how long they drag it out before it isn't one of the top stories anymore.

Yeah, jeep...it sucks but I think you ultimately made the right decision. Listeners would probably throw your phone call/viewpoints on the same compost pile as all the others. I was listening to Glenn Beck yesterday (guilty, sorry) and he was pretty sympathetic to the bulldogs (not just the ones supposedly culled, bulldogs in general- he said a nice thing or two about the breed)...but then he said something that really bothered me- he alluded that the breed should just be allowed to die out with spaying and neutering. I wanted to call in so badly to state why the APBT should be preserved not driven extinct- but then I would have to try to explain the APBT's heart and loyalty, etc. to this man. I would have probably brought my son into it (He loves his bulldog so) and sounded like a babbling loony tune by the time the phone call was over. I elected not to call.

While I have complete faith you would not have minced words in any way...sometimes picking our battles wisely helps the dogs more than jumping headlong into every scuffle, IMO.

It is a shame because the show is one of my favorites to listen to on the way home. I was getting more and more pissed at what every caller was saying. Its like they put a free pay phone in the prison with a direct line to the radio station yesterday. I was SOOOO tempted to call, but like Kergin said I was leary of what they would make me out to be.

Most fanciers have a hard time explaining their passion to a granola fairy with a bleeding heart that dont wanna hear truths and facts.

    Pretty much says it all.

I don't have time to read the whole thread so I'm sure this has been run into the ground already, but this slamming dogs into the ground to kill them...that may be true or it may be typical media bullshit as usual. If it is true, be it legal or not, or effective or not, anyone who would agree that this is an acceptable form of euthanasia, well, that says a lot about their heart and character regardless of how many dogs they own(ed) or what the "old time dogmen" did.

Is it true that if one of his dogs wouldnt fight they would soak it in water and electricute it?? thats sick. its a shame that one day this breed is gonna be completely outlawed everywhere because of people like this.

  7. I think you didnt made the right choice .
Is your rhetoric good? If so you have the duty to say to something. 2 dogs on one at the same time, why not 4 or 5?
if I hear thus a mashed shit I get green pimples. Fact is if you let 2 Bulldogs on one they will hurt the other dog in very short time very bad. With high likelyhood they kill Him. However, maybe some completely demented Chrackheads do such a thing but this has nothing with the traditional dog fight (Cajun Rules) to do. It also has nothing with a test fight to act. Clear and simply it is an insanity in his purest form. Yes I would glorify dogfighting. Why not? This form of the selection has produced the greatest dogs. This kind of the selection has received these dogs all centuries. But I wish dogmen with heart and brain no remote control complete idiots which think they are the centre of the earth. Unfortunately, one finds these experts Worldwide. I would wish this is legalised the dog fight and is controlled. Only what you legalises you can control. Transference on television (like in Japan) per fight a veterinarian etc. I cannot see in the future, however, I am to me Certainly the time will kick us in the fat arse (physical disasters, terrorism etc.). Soon nobody will give a half cent for these so-called animal welfarists. The people will have other worries. Then one will need real dogs again....

  8. Do you have written that 14? Interesting .... the dog has trusted you 100%. From everybody he would have this, however, expects he has trusted you. No good feeling or?
It is exactly this what I mean. If 10,000 people say it is right it must not be right. If you shoot 40 people you have maybe no more problem with it ..., however, therefore it is not right. The eyes of the dog allowed you to see in your heart. If you are old you will still remember this. You are a man you must influence always yourself does not allow to decide you.And please do now not too much advertisement for electrical systems. Think always of it how many idiots there are outdoors ....do advertisement for positive things.

because the same kind of folks that enjoy this so called sport would no doubt have also enjoyed the days of the roman colisium. i dont care how great of a dog was produced by all that has gone on in the past. the fact is that that crap is barbaric and as human beings we are supposed to be more intelligent than that.in no way do i see a dogs life being as important as a humans, but come on. how can anyone wrap their mind around the thought that it is ok or somehow humane to drown and electrcute another living being. this is the kind of stuff jeff dahlmer did as a child and we know how he turned out. its not normal its not legal and like it or not their is a price to be paid for what we do here in this life(sorry to those of u who squirm when religion is mentioned). and to who ever left me the bad rep, if your gonna call me out of my name at least have the balls to leave yours, i can't slap ya through the monitor. though that would be a nice feature.

The "1993 Report of the AVMA Panel on Euthanasia", which is frequently referred to the veterinary and biomedical community and provides guidelines for recommended euthanitization methods by animal group and species, states that acceptable (humane) physical methods of euthanasia "include the use of the captive bolt pistol, gunshot, cervical dislocation, decapitation, electrocution, microwave irradiation, and rapid freezing."

I briefly worked in a couple of different poultry processing plants years ago. Next time you're having a chicken sandwich or Thanksgiving turkey, keep in mind that what you're eating was once a live bird that was snatched up by some dude making 7.50 an hour, placed upside down in foot shackles hanging from a conveyor belt which, within moments, carried the animal -along with millions of others- through a spray of water, then dragged its head across a device which electrocuted it, causing the bird to spasm violently as it was passed through a blade that decapitated it, or maybe didn't...fully. I don't see the media making a big fuss about the "evils" of Don Tyson or Jennie-O. What I do see are politicians getting fat off chicken and turkey while writing laws which prohibit cockfighting. I see animal rights advocates slaughtering dogs by the truckload because they judge it preferable to chain confinement. I see skinny miserable dogs in 4-foot by 4-foot shelter kennels with piles of shit in the corner while the shelter's agents are out arresting people because their animals are living in "deplorable conditions." If animal control ever visits a typical dog yard after a hard rain, odds are someone is going to jail while their dogs are systematically destroyed.

It's up to you, N M PITS, to decide for yourself if something seems barbaric or not. You have a right to an opinion. It's the people imposing their opinions on everyone else in the form of laws and societal standards that should be electrocuted, in my opinion of course. Not everyone believes that dogfighting is barbaric. Likewise, not everyone believes that you should be bitch-slapped.

Why is it that we, as human beings, love so much to hate?

And for those of you who think race isn't a factor in the Vick case, ask yourselves honestly: Would this same political circus be occurring if these same dogs had been discovered at a residence owned by one of the Manning brothers? Tom Brady?

    I'd wager not.

I think his race may have enhanced the story a bit, but only second to his status...first and foremost he is an NFL quarterback-and the media loves to dish dirt on those celebs, black white or whatever. I'd suspect the story would be just as huge -if not bigger- had Nutrisystem Dan Marino been the one charged.;)

  16. ColbyDogs

Where do you get that this is race related ? This case is more evidence related and has nothing to do with race. If it was a Manning or Brady I don't think they would be escaping idicments because they are white. Facts are facts and they seem to have enough evidence to push forward with formal charges against Vick.

Tom Brady can't even fart without the press on it, we here in New England see Mr. Brady in the news all the time, hell the news has gone almost as far as telling us what sexual postion the baby was concieved, how many other QB's do you hear about becomig a father in such public fasion ? None !
You can bet if Tom was involved in a dog fight scandel the media would be all over it. I could see the headlines now TOM BRADY CAUGHT WASHING BLOOD OFF HIS SQUEAKY CLEANS HANDS .

I have to disagree with you on that my friend.

He's not the first NFL player involved with this type of exposure. The Problem with Vick he is a high profile player.

I dissagree with the evidence that they have presented to form this case. Unless one is caught with a dog between thier legs....it's speculation!

Right you are ;) ...I had mentioned that before- he is a high profile media interest. It's his status all the way around that has lended all this momentum to this case.

I think that if Brady or any of the Mannings were involved, there would be a media frenzy, as Colby stated. I think the difference is that there may be a certain amount of preconceived guilt because Vick is black.

Black athletes have not done themselves any favors recently as far as public relations goes. In the last 15 years or so, professional sports (I'm talking mainly football and basketball) has become, what appears to the casual fan to be a bunch of highly paid thugs, some white, most black. This is not a prejudicial statement, it simply is the perception held by many people. Because of this perception, Vick will have to prove his innocence (not legally but PR wise) where Peyton Manning would have to be proven guilty.
