Read that he bred his females even though they weren't tested. He believed that the females carried the "genes." If this is true, its identical to the way that I was brought up with breeding our gamefowls.

Gamefowls, and gamedogs are two totally different subjects, and should be bred differently. How often do you see the same family of dogs inbred over 50 years, still winning pure, and producing 100% game litters?

That dog would be the size of a peanut and almost as dumb.

WOW, u should probably think about what u just said. Most great bloodlines have been linebred for generations to throw consistency in terms of ability and gameness so don't be so quick to throw out that narrow minded opinion

Agreed. There are families of dogs around that are clones of one another from being bred so tight (We have one ;)) and they are the tension. Small as a peanut? WTF?

My response was to inbreeding for 50 yrs, not line breeding.

oh my bad, but its been proven for years that both inbreeding and linebreeding does work so how can u say the dogs will be this and that when facts show that the inbred dogs are still performing on the highest level with no problems

In bred to a point. Most don't inbreed without some type of cross to it, it's needed.

I was mainly responding to the chicken comment.

I agree u can only go so far with inbreeding until u need an outcross to improve the line, however i don't doubt that there are still plenty of inbred dogs out there that are still working for people

I agree they should be bred differently. I just thought it was interesting when I read that about him not testing his female. That's why I asked if it was true.
