Just curious about historically speaking how often were dogs of opposite sex matched? I've heard of it being done a few times.. but wasn't sure if this was a common occurence or not.. can anyone shed some light on this for me. How often it was done, and any particular great matches that stood out?

I was under the impression that it was just matched among same sex..but then again I am rather green still :)

  2. i have heard it being done to. but not alot as it would not be very good if ya ever wanted to breed either sex, it could make things difficult.

I read some where that a male didn't act the same when matched against a female.

The female usually comes out and does what she is supposed to do, and the male is usually the one that doesn't act right... just my 2 cents...

Well it has been done, not a lot but has been done.and myself i don't recomend it and never did it.i would have never matched a dog of the opposite sex,and never would have recomended anyone to do so.

the natural instincts of a male or a female(hormones) say "pro-create", not fight. ive never understood why this was done ever.

i have heard of it as well.. as stated females typically were about business from the gate, where males sometimes took a minute or two to "switch gears" dependong on what the female did with that few moments of a "grace period" sometimes the males could regain thier footing.

I think the main reason for it is to prove that a female can go with a male, the males doesnt really get much out of it, buta female that bests a male is something to talk about.
