Trial Delayed for Family Accused of Dogfighting

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - The trial of a Broussard man and his son charged with dogfighting two years ago has been pushed back.

72-year-old Floyd J. Boudreaux was arrested in 2005 by state police at his home where officers seized 64 pit bulls and charged him with dogfighting, animal cruelty and drug charges, totaling up to more than 48 counts of dogfighting.

Also arrested was his son, Guy Boudreaux, who faces similar charges.

A trial date for both men was set for January 14th, but court records indicate that planned start date for a trial has been pushed back.

No date for a new trial has been set.

If convicted, both Floyd and Guy Boudreaux could face more than 10 years in prison per count on the dogfighting and animal cruelty charges.

All this dragging along is causing more trouble, pain, fustration and hurt. Not to mention increasing legal expenses.

Just let these men have a (fair) Trail (if there is such thing anymore)

That is a shame.Floyd is one of the all time greats.A real gentleman dogman. Is there any legal defence fund set up anywhere? Most of us would not have the dogs we are petting right not if it was'nt for Floyd.

It seems to me that just by the number of bulldogs confiscated that FB has a lot of evidence in his favor.

I may be wrong, but if what I hear is correct, very few dogs looked like they had been "fought", with serious injuries.
Accidents happen, and dogs get scars. A heavily campaigned bulldog has a tendency to look the part.
60+ dogs, if they can show that the animals were not horribly scarred and mangled, then it would seem that a defense attorney will be all over that point.

WOuldnt a hienous(sp) dogfighting operation be littered with more evidence ofhurt or crippled dogs and what not?

He is a family man and definately not being fairly treated. THis is not a rich man who peddles dogs, he has preserved American history, and instilled that in his family.
In 50 years, history will show that what FB and the Colbys did for THE American dog was not motivated by money, but by the truth, and I hope that their dogs are still around for those looking for some truth in their dogs.

From what I understand it was ketamine. Ketamine is controlled.

    But far from fucking dope!

I was told it was some kind of steroid for the chickens....and they are making it out to be illegal drugs.

unless you have a prescription for ketamine or steroids, they are illegal. hence the term "illegal drugs". that being said, the poor man is an icon to dogmen all over the world and his name has been dragged through the mud, his dogs put to sleep, and now we are faced with the same problem that plagued hemphill: the possibility of a once great line falling into obscurity. there are many people out there that have wonderful boudreaux dogs and no doubt for some time there will be plenty of them available. but it is a matter of time before it becomes an impure line. with all his stock dead, FB's capability to continue producing the greatest dogs the world has ever seen is now non existent. it is a shame and one of the saddest stories of of the pitfalls of being in love with APBT's. :(

Complete garbage. I had no idea that working a dog on a treadmill makes it aggressive. I wonder what they would say about me? All those years I spent training for soccer and using a treadmill as a part of that training?

And I know about Dickinson through a friend who is a LA State Trooper. He's not a humble character. Not sure how he ranks up there with another police officer who saved his partner's life when he "busted" a man who was "selling dogs with the sole purpose of fighting them." I wonder when he's going to go after the gun manufacturers for the sole purpose of creating and selling guns for the sole purpose of them being used to commit crimes.

I reckon its easier to round up APBTs than it is to take down meth labs. Where the hell are the priorities for law enforcement?

THank god the world really is a craphole. Give humanity 5 more years, and there will be too much craziness running rampant to warrant spending a dollar prosecuting people who have bulldogs.

You can smell meth cooking before you see or hear a yard of dogs......

Oh trust me, Mr. Billfold, there are plenty of meth labs around the Baton Rouge area (usually in Livingston, Tangipahoa, and St. Tammany Parishes as they still contain some really rural areas) and they are going down like flies.

SHow me ONE citizen whose life was at risk at the expense of FB or his dogs?

I havent heard of any bulldogs explolding and killing neighbors and police, yet $$$ is spent to "fight" against them.

I just pictured a yard of dogs blowing up LMFAO. Thank you for my laugh of the day...:p

Unfortunately, when it comes to this breed, it's not the risk of them that matters, it's the publics perception of the risk.

I know they say that ignorance is bliss, but if it were, you would think you would see a hell of a lot more people walking around with stupid grins on their faces...

What happened to FB wasn't personal per say, it was more political than anything. If they take down one of the biggest/oldest available names in the business of bulldogs, no one else is safe. Add BSL and eliminate a few more. Ban breeding and there will never be another.

It's been over 2 years now for MR B, they need to step up and get this done.

I don't understand why the hell someone would put a 72 year old man thru this. Like damn they want to kill the dogs and the people who own them!? Going to give him a heart attack. Pretty soon there is going to be a website with a list of people who own bulldogs like they do with child molester.

Dont you know suposedly men like FB are worse than child molesters...the federal govt seems to want to punish them more severely anyway so it seems to be the general concensus. More prison time means it was a worse crime right? So if a rapist or murderer or child molester gets anywhere from several Days to a few years... for their crimes.... and dogmen like the well loved and respected FB... to some unknown random rednecks in nowhere USA can get anywhere from 25-100+ years ....doesnt that mean something is fuggin wrong with the court systems???... to me if someone kicked my dog I might yell at ya or whoop your ass....if someone kicked my kid your dead...no questions asked so how in the fug does the GOVT get off on letting some crimes become mundane everyday crap that goes unpunished while victimless crimes like FBs and others become top of the list?
