I HAVE A 6MONTH OLD FEMALE acts like my girlfreind shes very protective but mostly towards females just today while i was walking her a lady walked by and she started pulling growling and barking but she dosnt do it to guys just any girl that aproaches me or passes by but she barks at sum guys to but not all could it be shes sensing something bad in certain people or just she does bark for the hell of it cus random people could approach her but she only barks at a select few sorry for the section wasnt sure which one to post in

 

Correct this right away! If you watch Dog Whisper there was a episode on this where the old man just let the dog be dominate towards his wife.

 

how do i go about correcting this?

I agree, you need to fix this problem before it grows into something larger. If you haven't already get obidiance classes for your dog. It could be harmless barking but it could also be early signs of human aggression.

 

correct any human aggression actions RIGHT when the dog is demonstrating them, so the dog can associate the "wrong" behavior with your displeasure. find a command that will work and use it EVERY time. with this breed, it's imperrative that the dog does not exhibit this tendency.

If you go with an obeidence instructor, make sure they are also an animal behavorist. A behavorist deals more with the daily living conditions of you and the dog and helps you and your girlfriend correct problems and get to the root of the issue. Many times it is us, the people, allowing a dog to act the way it does and we don't even realize it! (ie dog barks at some people because we give the dog signals that it's ok and we don't even realize it!)

a traditional obedience instructor is one who teaches one owner how to teach their dog sit, stay, down, fetch.. while the behavorist deals with all individuals who care for the dog.

also, please use extreme caution and get professional guidance before using some methods that the dog whisperer uses. He knows what he's doing and many of his methods can backfire especially with a domiante dog and weaker person.
