can you get a better picture? from that one it looks like a pit mix, maybe mastiff but need another picture to be sure. (you may never really know) They also have DNA tests to see what your dog is. I have heard good and bad things about them tho.

Why even bother to ask for pictures. If he doesn't even know how his dog is bred you can automatically assume it's a mix of some type.

  5. yeah will try and get some better pictures for you guys,as for dna testing the last time i heard was only proven to geneticaly prove labradors, and the only other type of dna test only proves the parentage, but not the breed.btw im not looking for a definate answer and just because hes a rescue doesnt automaticly make him a mix,i work in rescue and have seen more pure bred dogs than cross bred.though i guess that all depends on location.:)

Now how do you know these shelter dogs are pure bred? You have a keen eye for knowing a dog's background? Or do owners come in and claim the dog is theirs and bring pedigrees? I said assume and not know. Your dog could be a pure bred APBT, but without a DNA of parentage or pedigree, it's highly unlikely, just because theres so many dogs and mixes that look like a APBT.

  7. yes most of the time its people who buy the dogs, the dogs grow up(usually staffords or athletic staffords)and they lose control over the dog as they dont care for them properly.its became a big problem now as it limits the amount of dogs kennels can hold because most of them are fighting type dogs so can only be kenneled on there own.i know what your saying though man:)

There is no DNA test to identify a breed of dog.

You can't tell a dogs lineage or "purity" based on a picture. This thread is pointless and will be closed.
