    I signed and commented. This seems like a really good thing. Hopefully they will get all the signatures they need and the right people will see it.

    Nobody will see it. Online petitions simply DO NOT WORK! There is nothing preventing one or ten people from signing hundreds or thousands of signatures under other people's names, and massive numbers of unverifiable signatures occur so frequently with these things that no one takes them seriously, at least no one that such petitions are aimed at. If you really want to voice your opinion this way, then sign a real petition; on real tangible paper with a real pen, offering verifiable information along with a verifiable signature in your own distinct handwriting. Or write real tangible letters. Trust me on this: online petitions are a waste of time. This isn't just my opinion, but fact.
