When I feed my dogs in the evening one of them aggressively eats all the food every time like she's never eaten before. I feel bad because it seems like they are always hungry but I feed them plenty of food, if I let them eat as much as they want they will gain weight real quick. What can I do where I can keep them full without them getting overweight? I'm trying to keep them cut and tone but I feel bad that the female is always wanting food. I've been feeding them 5-6 cups of Nutro Max Adult but they will easily eat 15 cups if I let them. They have no worms or anything like that, I just feel bad sometimes because when I work out I eat alot and they don't get to. Any tips?

For what it's worth...A whole can of unsalted green beans is worth a cup of food. It will fill your dog up, but won't add any extra weight. Green beans are used a lot to help obese dogs lose weight without feeling like they're starving. Hope this helps. :)

    rocksteady I'll drink to that..

some dogs are just like they. They are prob getting enough.. but nature tells them to gorge themselves..

Check it out, think of something that

    - I can add to their food daily
    - would be readily cheap enough to buy for atleast a few dogs
    - will fill them up
    - won't gain weight
    - the dogs will like

I'll bet someone has a good idea

  5. Try giving the dog a rawhide or bone to chew on. One of my dogs is that way. I feed all my dogs at the same time, and she'll eat all of her food before the other dogs finish, and then watch them eat like she wants to eat their food. I think it's more of a competition between her and the other dogs. There's no possible way that she could still be hungry, because the dogs are all fed adequate portions. I started giving her bones or pigs ears, etc. to chew on. I personally think that she's like some humans, she's a comfort eater. The bones seem to keep her satisfied until the next feeding. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Like wolfs, it's insint to "wolf" down their food as fast as they can. But just make sure your dog knows that its okay for us to touch them and handle them while their eating, what if a small child comes near them? My little brother Julian is always feeding King and sitting right next to him watvhing every gain of food go down lol. It's quite cute you know

I can relate Blue, my Sasha has always been terrible with food, as far as scarfing it down and always acts starving anyway. She's been like that since day one, and she has always gained weight very easily, and extra cup of food would go right to her butt ;) Especially now in her senior years.
I had to laugh when you said your dogs would eat 15 cups, Sasha ate about that once after chewing thru her crate and getting into the cupboard.
Maybe we should try the green beans lol

For real, I need to. She goes crazy like "FOOD!!!!!!" she just wants to be a pig, but it ai'nt happening with me. I feel bad though, i'm eating all day and they are just following me everywhere, hoping something will drop from my hand, ha ha. I feed em good but still, there has to be something I can add to keep em satisfied.

I have a male that's nuts about food. Just because they are like that doesn't meen they aren't getting full. They just want more that's all. 5-6 cups a day? Seems a bit excessive. All of mine get 2-2.5 cups a day, and are lean, tone, and very healthy.

ha, if I fed them that much they would eat me! Don't know but on the bag of food Nutro, it says 41/2- 51/2 cups a day for their weight, 50-60lbs, and 60-70lbs range. i never asked anyone how much they fed there dogs before, interesting though. I always thought 5 cups was'nt alot but I guess some dogs are different. Mine stay real cut off 5 cups, especially if I work em.

Sasha only gets 2 cups of food in the winter, less in the summer and she's still a little chunky

I didn't consider that much weight. My dogs are all under 40. But that much sounds a little excessive. I recently switched from Nutro, to black gold. The dogs seem much happier, the coats look better, and they poop less!

I feed nutro, my dogs seem great from it. Better than that dog chow crap I used to feed them. They do poop less and the stool is harder from the nutro. Where can you get this "Black Gold"?
