    Here`s what I`m looking for

    a/bx100= a percentage

where "a" equals the number of dogs of a certain Breed which have bitten and
where "b" equals the TOTAL # of dogs of that Breed in the U.S.

For simplicity let`s use these examples

    Example 1
Lets say there are 10 Golden Retrievers in the U.S and 4 of them have bitten

4/10 x100=40% of Golden Retrievers have bitten.

    Example 2

Let`s say there are 1000 APBT`s in the U.S. and 50 of them have bitten

    50/1000 x100= 5% of APBT`s have bitten

So on the surface if you just throw these bare numbers out

***4 Golden Retriever bites vs 50 APBT bites***

It looks like those big bad APBT`s really are biting up a storm compared to Golden Retrievers.

But if you look at the percentages, that simply isn`t true.

So you do that for each of these Breeds if you can find the numbers.

    Staffordshire Bull Terriers
    American Staffordshire Terriers
    and APBT`s

And if you think THAT`S impossible to do try doing it for all the dogs that people are tagging as 'pit bulls'

    # of 'pit bulls'(whatever that means?) that have bitten in the U.S.
    DIVIDED by
the TOTAL # of 'pit bulls'(whatever that means) in the U.S.
    X 100= A percentage

When you have those %s Peta and who ever we'll talk:cool:

True enough, but I think there happen to be way more BYBs of bullies than real APBTS(after all, that is where most of this big money that you refer to is at the moment). Just check your local newspaper ads - nearly all will say "blues, parents 120 lbs, 80" heads, blah, blah, blah, pups only $30000000 !" :(

That said, there are certainly too many APBT BYBs, too, and reckless selling is the indeed the biggest problem.

Yes this is very true they even let them run ads in the APBT Gazzet with that same kind of speaking

I didn't catch this thread in time, but i listened to it after the fact. This is the first time i've ever heard any of the Bully owners actually stating they're a separate breed(The Host did, the Lady was trying to contradict him by putting up a weak argument about the terrier situation, as if they were the same breed). I don't think they're doing too much damage, the only problem is the over-population of the dogs that the bully owners produce(Some of The Sporting Dog Owners are doing the same in my opinion), which might be a problem in the future. they really are cool people (the ones I met), but i do sometimes wonder if they're in it for the money or trying to really start their own breed(they charge a tremendous amount of money for a dog that in my opinion is a crazy look), but most of the time i think it's mostly about money. I really think the lady on there was kind of annoying, but the guy on the other hand had some good points. I hope i didin't ramble too much, it's late and i was bored

    last thing
is it me, or does it seem like it's younger more urban people involved in this "new Breed"? man my generation is crazy lol.....

Thanks for your effort Marty not only for this but for all you do.

For those who don't agree with my previous posts , here you go... I'm my specific area, there are very VERY few people who know what a game bred dog is let alone know where to find one.. With that said the only dogs being peddled and sold are the "chocolate colored blue noses, gatamoufs, the big ass head, the this dog is gonna be huges, and the mom was red and the pops was blue so watch what colors come out"dogs...
I agree that some APBT breeders are peddlin shit but just not much in my area...
My whole point is that in MY area the big ass mutts do the attacking because the there are no gamedogs around...why? Because the GD owners are keeping their dogs in the shadows..
So my point stands.. The fights may contribute to the breed being banned but not as much as the dog bites... And in my area its the mutts doing the biting...
Know you should take a honest look at your area..

    Oh well...better luck next time.

Marty, you seem to be putting in quite a bit of effort but I don't see them helping you. If I were that guy, I'd be very interested in getting the answer to those questions posted on this and other APBT forums but seemingly there is no motovation to do that.

    Nice try though!

Hey guys last nights V.I.B.E. show was very interesting. They intervued Dan (excuse me for not remembering the kennel) But he was one of the founders of Southern Kennel and owned Gr. Ch. Barracuda. I thought that was very interesting why he switched to the Bully scene. Like Marty said if you go to the site you will here last nights show...

I don't know who that was directed at^ but I was just stating an opinion...lol

  18. Well Well, I have just been waiting to be approved to post lol. Once again I truly appreciate all opinions about the show and everything else.

The fact is I truly believe that unity is stronger than division. I think that anything positive in regards to Bully Breeds is a good thing. I defend the game bred dogs the dame as I defend Bullies. The fact is both crowds can be strong advocates against the plight of the APBT. The differences are far outweighed by the similarities seen by Joe Public.

I definitely tried to answer all the questions asked by this and other non Bully forums. I may have missed some but not intetionally. I plan on including all sides of the Bulldog equation in upcoming shows. I read this forum daily and have complimented the forum and it's members several time on air.

The question of how do I help Marty was raised in an earlier post, I feel that we help each other by doing what we can for the breed. I have an audience and like to believe that I am respected in my corner of the box and I know Marty is. Do I think we all should agree or think the same Hell No! Educated debates are often one of the best ways to increase overall education in regards to the breed.

It's 3am and I am dead tired, but thanks for the invite and I look forward to reading many more posts by GD members! Thanks goes to all who have taken time to listen and respond to this post.

Anyone in GA come out Saturday night to the Atlanta screening of Vicktory to the Underdog a film by Brandon Bond and Atlanta PitBull rescue all proceeds benifit Villa Lobos Rescue Center the worlds largest APBT rescue. I'm a special incited guest and hope everybody can make it out. No hip hop straight Rock and Roll I think.

Once again the shows, especially Tuesday night is to educate and entertain those who are passionate about Bully Breeds.

    BTK

  19. This is what I wrote the other day but could not post yet.

First and foremost I appreciate those who took the time to listen in and also those that took the time to comment on this thread. I tried to get to all of your questions and answer them to the best of my ability.

Now to get to the get down, I definitely can respect any man or woman’s individual opinion. I’m as American as the next man, I don’t get my feelings hurt, I have stood and debated with men who 60 years ago didn’t want my grandmother sipping from the same water fountain so dog talk is just that, dog talk.
    *
I remember when I was sitting with my great Uncle and one of his dog friends, I call the man a dog friend because although they had known each other for 20 plus years, aside from bulldogs the two had jack s*#t in common. I would chime in and would promptly be shot down as a still wet behind the ears kid that was two breaths from a switch. (If you are raised in the south you know what a switch is lol)
    *
I loved coming home from AZ and working with the dogs, I learned about a keep, how to use a break stick, I can remember going to the bridge over the river with a 30 foot rope and having one of my Uncle dogs named Goose swim for 30 minutes to an hour upstream in the water while I held the rope on the bridge, my uncle called it 30 30s. Or having to take the boat out and have the dog swim around the lake and back.
    *
My history with the breed goes way back. I know the big names but I know the smaller ones as well Bennett, Lightning, Swamps, and a few more going from south GA to eastern Florida. I know me some Bulldogs. I don’t brag about what I know, because that’s not how I was raised by old dogmen, Dogmen who I attended funerals for.
    *
I say that to say this, I know the difference between the AmBully and the APBT. Beefing with the AmBully would be the same as me beefing with a Boxer breeder; they are not Pit Bulls so what is my gripe?
    *
That being said I know that Boxers get confused for APBTs so if I see one acting a fool I will probably say something to the owner because at the end of the day the little soccer mom and her son Tommy may think it’s an APBT. Same goes with the AmBully crowd if people think it’s a Pit it needs to act right. I bring him to schools, he is great with kids, and he doesn’t bark at dogs, he just waits until its close enough to do something with. Till then he is not impressed, he is the definition of off the chain, I commonly tell people stay on the chain bro. Meaning the chain is safety, run your mouth, but the day will come when the chain is off.
    *
I am involved in the community because whether you believe it or not, I am trying to stop kids who don’t know any better from staging street fights with these dogs, dogs that are not even true game dogs. Part of the fight against this is by attaching value to these dogs. If a dog has no value the American way is to deem it disposable. So I have no beef with what someone charges, if it makes them believe that it is more valuable then great! *If it keeps the dogs out the shelter and out the news then great!!! *There is a severe overpopulation problem, hell there is a severe APBT problem if you ask the media. What people like Marty and I are doing are taking baby steps to fight that problem. I want people to know that not every dog needs to be bred, through the radio show and nationally distributed publications I feel that a can make a dent in the dump truck sized problem.
    *
Are Bully owners the cause for BSL? No as a former cruelty investigator in the state of GA, I can honestly say NO. Are game dog owners, NO? The reason for BSL is the lack of education. When there is an APBT attack on the news, I am accused because I am black with a Bulldog, some of you are the problems because you have dogs on chains? That’s the media perception believe it or not, that’s the truth.
    *
You can look at the Bully community and say they are the problem, but they are the ones whose shows are covered by the news, showing something positive, I have interviewed the mayor of Atlanta, talked to council members. I never talk on the behalf of just Bullies I speak for Pit Bulls as a whole. I encourage them to read Stratton and talk to old dogmen I fight against chaining laws. I took the Director of Agriculture to a kennel and explained why chaining is far from inhumane. I compared crated dogs conditioning and health to chained dogs. I interviewed people on life expectancy of chained dogs to house dogs.
    *
Beyond BSL I want to insure that when I go to get my next Bulldog that I can go into those woods do a day’s hard work in that old dogmans field and walk away with a TRUE Bulldog. I also want to insure that the AmBully crowd can continue to offer the alternative for the people who need something, just not an APBT. As contradictory as it sounds to some of you there are good AmBully breeders that understand what is needed to maintain a breed beyond money. Just like there are good Pomeranian breeders, Yorkie breeders and GSD breeders all of whom charge a pretty penny for their dogs.

Thanks for the comments about the show. I will definitely take them in consideration. I know the show is not for everyone. The show and the hosts and the music may rake your nerves, but I try to make the Topics good enough to keep some of you coming back. We have done it for a year and now I want to branch out in a major way to the community as a whole.
    *
Some of you may know this saying but it’s oh so true:
    *
“The only thing two dog men can agree on, is what a third dogman is doing wrong”
