Police: SWAT team wounds teen while shooting at pit bull

(Syracuse, NY - AP) — A Syracuse teenager is in serious condition after being hit by a stray bullet fired by a SWAT team member aiming for a charging pit bull.

Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh says the sheriff's department SWAT team was searching for a violent felon when they conducted a raid on a home in the city yesterday afternoon.

As the team entered the house, a pit bull charged the deputies, one of whom opened fire. Walsh says a stray bullet struck 13-year-old Ronnie Goodwin Junior in the leg. He was reported in serious condition at University Hospital.

The dog was hit by the gunfire and later died.

Authorities say they were seeking 42-year-old Angelo Jenkins, who was last seen fleeing the scene just before the raid.

Police aren't releasing the name of the deputy who fired the shots. The sheriff's department says the incident will be reviewed.

They are suppose to know the details of the place before they come in, so they would have to know that a dog was there? So now evertime police charge inside homes anyones dog will be killed, most dogs will attack any intruders breaking in the house.

"Power trip" sums it up pretty well. Scared abused little kids who finally got to be in a position of power. Sure, there are some really good cops who are fair and looking out for citizens safety and doing there job, but the majority just like to ''show you whose boss".

14rock's post pretty much sums up how I feel about most cops...
