The live show!! 10-20-09

  1. Typed this from an Iphone so I apologize for typos. Thanks for stomaching the show for as long as you could. I would like to hear from you guys on air, I'm doing a show on culling in the near future. Tommorrow I have a recap show, but will also be discussing whether the popularity of the AmBully helps or hurts the APBT and whether the APBT is right for new dog owners. First 40 minutes would drive you crazy but the last 45 may be interesting.

Thanks for listening at least once.

Thanks for explaining your point, I understand what you are saying.

One problem I see with that is people are paying so much for these dogs they won't cull, they have to get there moneys worth. You said you don't care about money but do you think most of the breeders do? Is the "ABKC" ever going to close its books to new studs? I understand you aren't a part of the "club" I just wondered if you have heard anything about how they are going about it.

To me saying the blood line doesn't make it a AmBully is like saying a camaro that comes off the assembly line with a V6 isn't a camaro, they came off the same assembly line. One is just better (more powerful) in the dog world it would still be an ambully just a bad example (a cull) but people pay so much money for the dogs they have to sell them anyway. Who would pay the high price for a dog that was fixed and they couldn't breed to get there money back.

  5. That is exactly the problem, money, people don't cull because they feel the dog is valuble either way. Whether it's a good example or not. The ABKC has around 20,000 dogs in it's database, last I heard, closing the stud books could happen as early as 5 years, although I think it will go the route if the UKC and have the same quagmire of problematic breed type as the UKC.

The bloodline is kind of like how a GMC and Chevy come from the same assembly line, similar but not always the same. I will say the majority of RE exclusive dogs are AmBullies especially those bred from stock under the age of 6. Dogs line bred off of some of the closer to AmStaff stock do not resemble the AmBully, although they have good bone and substance, they lack the squatty builds, too short muzzles, and wrinkles common in the AmBully RE bred dogs of today. They were19-20in height and maybe 70 at the high end, still big but not Ambullish at 17in and 80.

Definitely not APBT in structure but more AmStaff.

I see your points though, and I agree on most, and entirely on the money aspect. There are a few breeders who are trying to focus on quality and type and will disregard money for making a solid foundation of AmBullies.

Not enough, by far, but some. It takes the knowledgeable to preserve or maintain a breed. There are great enthusiasts on this board but they are outnumbered by the idiotic APBT breeders who think that they have gamebred dogs because they can kill
kittens or labradoodles. They are as idiotic as those who believe their AmBully is the same as a Tried and true APBT.

Thanks for reading and responding to this thread hope I cleared up what I was saying on the show.
