I wouldnt be concerned by that, its natural.
Growling, raised hackles and other threat displays towards another dog are not desired though, a proper dog aint got time to waste on that stuff

i think that is meant towards other dogs. No one wants a dog in the pit that is wasting time growling and tryin to intimated. It was scratch and right to business. I am just saying how i would imagine things were back then. I have never been involved in nor seen a dog fight and never will :)

That is very normal... Mine sounds like a motorcycle revving while he tugs/shakes on his. I wouldn't describe it as aggressive and really only when it's in his mouth. If he lets go, and it pops up, he isn't growling at it, he just jumps up and starts again.

    same for you?

Sounds normal to me... My dog growls all the time when he is biting a rope or cow hide. Heres a video of him as a puppy(i wouldnt let him, as an adult bite on the cow hide on top of the line, aint strong enough, but as a puppy, i allowed him to, u will c what i mean in the video) biting a cow hide, and you can hear his growl

  10. I used to have a dog that would actually whine when "working". I would then up the ante b/c people would think he was a cur. Imagine their surprise when they figured he was "whining" out of sheer enjoyment.;)

i have had some shriekers! not so much a ~growl~ but a blood curdling wail. the dog in my avatar would run up the side of the big oak about 10ft up and spring off to an outshot limb, catch and just hang there. he would wail and wail and ~wiggle~ like he was thinking he could take it down. he would do this for 10 minutes at a time, repeatedly. my father saw it was was simply puzzled.

its merely a release some use while they ~work~ i wouldnt be concerned

    low growler...

We used to say that about my girl Marz, that she sounded like chubacca! lol Ya.. I've had screamers and squealers and growlers. Gaud... what my neighbours must think. Tank sounds like he's killing something. Venus would sound like a freakin' monkey! lol

My best dogs never made a sound when staring down another dog until they yanked against the leash and couldnt get free. Then the screaming began. In play they growled a good deal though.

Yep, noises are common. I got 2 that won't touch the pole and one that won't get off it. He's gotten good at 'release' when I say so, but, noises are normal.

Screeching is my dog's most common sound

BTW, JELET, NICE looking dog in your avatar. Is that male or female?
